He dedicated the dance to Olivia; choosing a song associated with his brother Zac Efron made it a tribute to Zac, too.
What Dylan Efron performed on Dedication Night
Dylan and Daniella danced a contemporary routine to “Rewrite the Stars,” the song associated with Zac Efron and Zendaya in The Greatest Showman. Olivia joined them onstage. The performance received a 9 from each of the four judges: Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and guest judge Kym Johnson-Herjavec, according to Us Weekly’s October 15, 2025 report.

Olivia was the dedicatee; Zac inspired the song choice
The distinction matters: Dylan dedicated the dance to his younger sister Olivia, while “Rewrite the Stars” was his nod to Zac. In a rehearsal package quoted by Us Weekly, Dylan said he chose it because it was his favorite performance by Zac and because the song “just made sense.” He added that Zac had done selfless things for him, and said he wanted to be the kind of role model for Olivia that Zac had been for him.
Speaking after the show, Dylan told Extra’s Sadie Murray: “When I think of my brother, he was just always there for me, and it means a lot that Olivia’s here with me right now. It feels like I’m passing it on.”

Daniella also praised Olivia’s presence in the routine. She told Extra that the five-year-old “owned the whole dance,” describing how Olivia and Dylan took command of the performance despite her having never danced before.

No. The October 14 Dedication Night performance was not the occasion of Zac’s reported appearance in the ballroom. ABC News reported that Zac appeared in the audience later, on November 18, during Prince Night, when Dylan and Daniella danced to Prince songs. That episode streamed the next day on Disney+ and Hulu, according to ABC News. The November appearance and Prince Night dance were separate from the October performance to “Rewrite the Stars.”
