The best match is Drive & Listen: a free browser experience that pairs prerecorded dashcam-style drives through cities with locally associated online radio streams and optional street noise. It is immersive, but it is not a live camera, driving simulator, or navigable map. The video is prerecorded; the radio may be live when its stream is available.
What Drive & Listen does
Drive & Listen lets you choose a city and watch an existing road journey from a driver’s perspective. The site currently advertises more than 100 cities, although individual videos and radio stations can become unavailable or change over time.
A typical session combines three layers:
- Prerecorded driving footage through the selected city.
- An online radio station associated with that city or region, where available.
- Optional street noise, such as traffic and road ambience.
You can adjust the virtual car’s speed to create a slower, normal, or faster-feeling ride. That changes the simulated driving pace; it does not give you control of the vehicle or turn the video into a driving game.
According to the service’s FAQ, Drive & Listen was created by Erkam Seker and launched on April 22, 2020. The service says it is free and is accessed through a browser.

How to use Drive & Listen
- Open driveandlisten.app.
- Choose a city from the available list or interface.
- Start the drive and wait for the video to load.
- Turn the radio on or off, depending on whether you want music, talk, news, or other programming.
- Enable street noise if you want more road ambience.
- Adjust the car-speed control to suit the mood.
- Use full-screen mode where your browser and the current interface support it.
On a phone, open the site in the mobile browser and use the browser’s Add to Home Screen option if you want quick access. The current FAQ says there is no native mobile app, so a home-screen shortcut should not be confused with an installed app.

This distinction matters. The video does not show current traffic, weather, construction, or events. A radio broadcast may be happening at the same time you watch, but it was not necessarily recorded during the drive shown on screen. Daylight, traffic, weather, and programming may therefore fail to match.

“Local radio” should also be understood as a station geographically associated with the selected city or region—not necessarily the station heard by the driver at the exact moment the footage was recorded. Programming can include music, advertising, sports, talk, or a language unfamiliar to you.

Can you control the route?
No. Drive & Listen is a passive ride-along. You select a city and watch selected or contributor-submitted footage, but you cannot steer, brake, choose every turn, or jump to a precise landmark.

When each option is the better choice
- Choose Drive & Listen for the simplest, most polished virtual drive with city scenery, road sound, and radio in one browser tab.
- Choose Radio Garden when the station matters more than the visuals. You can rotate the globe and select live radio independently, then pair it with Street View or a driving video.
- Choose Google Maps Street View when you need a particular address, street, or landmark and are willing to supply your own audio.
- Choose Internet Roadtrip when you want to influence the journey and do not mind where the crowd sends the virtual car.
- Choose Walk & Listen when walking ambience is more appealing than driving.
- Build your own setup with a YouTube driving video, Radio Garden, and a broadcaster’s official stream when you need an exact route or a station unavailable in Drive & Listen.
Why the format works
The appeal is the combination of visual movement and regional sound. It can provide unobtrusive background while you work or relax, offer casual exposure to different languages and accents, evoke memories of a familiar city, or help you preview the feel of a destination before planning a trip.
For a more immersive session, try headphones or speakers, a larger screen, full-screen mode, street noise, and a slower car-speed setting. These are comfort choices, not requirements, and radio commercials, sirens, traffic, or sudden stream interruptions may make the experience less peaceful than expected. “Calming” is best treated as a description of the mood some viewers may enjoy, not a medical or therapeutic claim.

What to do when something fails
The radio does not play
- Click or tap the page before starting audio; browser autoplay rules may block sound until you interact.
- Check whether the browser tab or device is muted.
- Temporarily test without an aggressive privacy or content-blocking extension.
- Try another current browser.
- Open the broadcaster’s official stream separately.
- Use Radio Garden or the station’s own website as an audio fallback.
A failed radio stream does not necessarily mean the city video is broken. The station may be offline, geoblocked, changed its stream address, or be unavailable in your country.
The video does not load
- Refresh the page.
- Try another city.
- Use a current desktop browser if possible.
- Temporarily test without an aggressive content blocker.
- Use a separate city-driving video if the embedded footage remains unavailable.
Do not assume every advertised city will always have a playable video and working radio stream. Availability can change because videos are removed, broadcasters alter their players, networks become congested, or regional restrictions apply.
Privacy, copyright, and practical limits
Browser extensions, autoplay permissions, network settings, and the selected broadcaster all affect how the experience behaves. Availability may vary by country because radio streams can be restricted by licensing or technical rules. Do not bypass geoblocking or copy streams.
Watching the service is different from embedding or republishing its videos, rebroadcasting radio audio, or recording and uploading a combined session. Follow the terms of Drive & Listen, the relevant video host, the broadcaster, and the platform where you share content.
Bottom line
Start with Drive & Listen if you want a ready-made virtual drive through a real city. It is the closest fit for a relaxing ride-along with road ambience and locally associated radio. Just remember that the drive is prerecorded and the radio may be live but is not guaranteed to match the footage. Use Radio Garden for independent station choice, Street View for exact-location exploration, and Internet Roadtrip for a crowd-controlled journey.
