Drake officially released his Kendrick Lamar response track, “Push Ups,” on April 19, 2024. The single followed a leaked version that began circulating on April 13 and prompted questions about whether the low-quality audio was authentic or AI-generated. The official release confirmed the track’s identity and made it available through major streaming and download services.

Yes—but the release happened on April 19, 2024. Drake officially released “Push Ups”, his response to Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Like That,” after a leaked version circulated online six days earlier. The official single appeared on major streaming and download services under Drake’s name, ending the immediate uncertainty over whether the rough audio was genuine or AI-generated.

The track is best understood as the opening official move in Drake’s 2024 exchange with Lamar—not as a new release occurring today. Early uploads sometimes called it “Push Ups (Drop and Give Me 50)”, but the official consumer-facing listings identify the song simply as “Push Ups.”

Where to listen to Drake’s “Push Ups”

Drake’s official link hub directed listeners to Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Pandora, Tidal, Deezer, and Audiomack. Apple Music lists the release as Push Ups – Single by Drake, dated April 19, 2024. Amazon Music lists one explicit track and credits the recording to OVO, with an exclusive license to Republic Records, a division of Universal Music Group.

The official release is generally listed at about four minutes, although platform metadata varies: Amazon Music gives a runtime of approximately 3:53. A Beatport listing for a related “Push Ups Intro” entry shows 4:02 and should be treated as supporting catalog information, not as the primary release record for the single.

Why Drake released “Push Ups”

The immediate target was Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Like That,” the Future and Metro Boomin collaboration from We Don’t Trust You. Lamar rejected the familiar idea of a rap “big three” made up of Lamar, Drake, and J. Cole. His verse dismissed the ranking and presented himself as the central figure instead.

Drake’s answer in “Push Ups” is built around rejecting Lamar’s claim to the top position. He mocks Lamar’s stature, questions his commercial reach, and argues that Lamar’s visibility has been strengthened by major pop collaborations and industry connections. He also challenges Lamar’s relationship with Top Dawg Entertainment and his standing in Los Angeles and the wider rap industry.

Those points are part of a competitive diss track, not a neutral account of the artists’ careers. Drake makes allegations and insults for rhetorical effect. They should be understood as claims made within the song rather than independently verified biographical facts.

Who else Drake attacks on the track?

“Push Ups” is aimed primarily at Lamar, but Drake widens the confrontation to several artists associated with the dispute or with his own history:

  • Future: Drake questions Future’s position in the conflict and refers to the support and opportunities he says he previously gave the Atlanta artist.
  • Metro Boomin: Drake attacks the producer directly, responding to Metro’s role in We Don’t Trust You and “Like That.” The official version’s beat was credited to Boi-1da, Fierce, Coleman, and Noel Cadastre.
  • Rick Ross: Drake mocks Ross for entering the dispute and releasing his own attacks after previously working with Drake.
  • The Weeknd: Drake turns to Toronto’s music scene and The Weeknd’s departure from his orbit, framing the relationship as part of a broader dispute over influence in the city.
  • J. Cole: Cole is mentioned because his song “7 Minute Drill” briefly placed him in the same battle. Cole later apologized for the track and removed it from streaming platforms.

The result is less a narrowly focused reply to one verse than a broad status challenge. Drake uses Lamar’s “big three” provocation as an opportunity to address several rivals and former collaborators at once.

What changed between the leak and the official release?

A rough version of “Push Ups” began circulating on April 13, 2024. Its poor sound quality led listeners to debate whether it was a real Drake recording, an unfinished leak, or an AI-generated imitation.

The April 19 release confirmed that the track was an official Drake single. It was not simply a repost of the low-quality file: reporting on the official version noted production differences, including an original beat credited to Boi-1da, Fierce, Coleman, and Noel Cadastre. The official service listings also supplied standard release metadata and label information that the leaked files lacked.

“Push Ups” is not “Taylor Made Freestyle”

One source of confusion is that Drake released another Lamar response soon afterward. “Taylor Made Freestyle” arrived on April 24, 2024, five days after “Push Ups.” It was a separate track and should not be treated as an alternate title or version of the April 19 single.

“Taylor Made Freestyle” used AI-assisted voices resembling Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg. The use of a voice resembling Tupac led the Tupac estate to threaten legal action, and Drake removed the track from his social channels. That controversy belongs to “Taylor Made Freestyle,” not to the official release history of “Push Ups.”

Where “Push Ups” fits in the Drake–Kendrick timeline

Date Event
April 13, 2024 Leaked versions of “Push Ups” circulate online, accompanied by questions about authenticity and possible AI generation.
April 19, 2024 Drake officially releases “Push Ups” on streaming and download services.
April 24, 2024 Drake releases the separate “Taylor Made Freestyle,” later removing it from his social channels after the Tupac voice dispute.
April 30, 2024 Kendrick Lamar responds with “Euphoria.”
May 3–5, 2024 The exchange intensifies with Lamar’s “6:16 in LA,” Drake’s “Family Matters,” Lamar’s “Meet the Grahams” and “Not Like Us,” and Drake’s “The Heart Part 6.”

This chronology matters because “Push Ups” is sometimes discussed together with every song in the feud. It was the first official Drake response in this sequence, but it was not his final contribution and it was not the same recording as “Taylor Made Freestyle,” “Family Matters,” or “The Heart Part 6.”

What does the title “Drop and Give Me 50” mean?

Some leaked files, fan uploads, and early coverage used the parenthetical title “Drop and Give Me 50.” That wording came from the song’s circulating identity during the leak period. Apple Music and other official-facing listings use the shorter title “Push Ups,” so that is the most defensible name for the released single.

Why the release still matters

“Push Ups” did more than answer one line from “Like That.” It made the disagreement public in a fully released Drake recording and converted a leak-driven rumor into an official rap battle. The song also established the breadth of Drake’s response: Lamar was the central opponent, but Future, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross, The Weeknd, and J. Cole were all pulled into the track’s argument.

For documentary purposes, the release also illustrates how quickly rap feuds now move between official records, leaks, social platforms, AI-related uncertainty, and streaming metadata. The six-day gap between the leak and the official single created a short period in which listeners were debating not only the lyrics but whether the recording itself was authentic.

Later context

As of the August 12, 2026 research check, “Push Ups” remained cataloged on official or platform-linked music pages. Later coverage—including reporting connected to Drake’s 2026 solo album Iceman—continued to revisit the consequences of the 2024 battle. That later context does not change the key historical fact: Drake officially released “Push Ups” on April 19, 2024, following the April 13 leak.

In short, if you are looking for Drake’s first official answer to Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” challenge, the track is “Push Ups,” released April 19, 2024.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is “Push Ups” really an official Drake song?

“Push Ups” is Drake’s response to Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” where Lamar rejected the idea of a rap “big three” involving himself, Drake, and J. Cole.

Is “Push Ups” the same song as “Taylor Made Freestyle”?

No. “Taylor Made Freestyle” was a separate Drake response released on April 24, 2024. It used AI-assisted voices resembling Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg and was later removed from Drake’s social channels after a dispute involving the Tupac estate.

Which artists does Drake diss on “Push Ups”?
