Drake Bell identified himself in the 2024 docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV as the minor in Brian Peck’s case. Bell said the abuse began when he was 15 and described it as extensive. His account is testimony in the documentary; the criminal case and its reported outcome are separate legal facts.
What Drake Bell said happened
In Quiet on Set, Bell said he met Peck around the start of the second season of The Amanda Show in 2000. Peck was a dialogue coach who worked with young performers. Bell described being sexually abused by Peck when he was 15. “The abuse was extensive, and it got pretty brutal. I don’t know how to elaborate on that on camera, really,” Bell said in the documentary, as quoted by TIME.
Bell’s account is his first-person description of what he experienced. He publicly identified himself in the series as the minor involved in Peck’s case; his identity had not been disclosed in the contemporary reporting described by TIME and ABC News.
What happened in Brian Peck’s case
Peck was arrested in 2003 in connection with the abuse of a minor he coached. ABC News reported that he was sentenced in 2004 to 16 months in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender. The sources differ on the precise plea wording: ABC News describes Peck as pleading guilty to two counts, while TIME reports a no-contest plea to specified offenses. The sentence and registration order are consistently reported; the conflicting descriptions should not be collapsed into a single precise plea claim without consulting court records.

Why Bell chose to speak publicly in 2024
Bell said becoming a father influenced his decision to tell his story. In a May 2024 interview with the Los Angeles Times, he said he wanted his son to hear the story from him: “What’s the story that he’s going to get?”

How Bell’s story fits into Quiet on Set
Investigation Discovery released Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV in March 2024. The series examines Bell’s case alongside other allegations and accounts about children’s television and workplace culture. Those are distinct subjects: claims concerning other individuals should not be treated as part of Bell’s case. In a separate development, the Associated Press reported that former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider sued the series’ makers in May 2024, alleging defamation and objecting to implications about him; Schneider denied the series’ implications, according to the AP.
