Arinsu refuses Nahare’s request for the Dragon Ball because she wants to strengthen the Demon Realm. Goku volunteers to fight Majin Duu, and the two trade blows. The contest is interrupted when Gomah appears in a giant form, empowered by the Third Eye. He overwhelms Vegeta, Goku, Piccolo, Nahare, and Glorio.

The review also leaves room for what comes next: Kurland notes that the final three episodes could still surpass Episode 17. His enthusiasm is therefore an assessment of this episode’s achievements, not a claim that the series has already reached an unsurpassable peak.
How Episode 17 fits DAIMA’s premise
Dragon Ball DAIMA launched in October 2024 as a new installment in the Dragon Ball series. The official site credits Akira Toriyama with the original work, story, and character design. Its premise says Goku and his companions are suddenly made small through a conspiracy and follow the cause to the Great Demon Realm, where they encounter the mysterious young Majin Glorio. The official Japanese synopsis introduces the adventure with “ようこそ、大冒険へ！” (“Welcome to a great adventure!”).

Episode 17’s conflict takes place in that Demon Realm setting. Its focus on Arinsu’s stated aim of strengthening the realm and the threat posed by Gomah connects the immediate battle to the larger world the series has established.
