This ranking compares his major individual transformations and named power states across the main Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super anime and manga, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball DAIMA. The order is an editorial comparison, not an official Dragon Ball power chart: official material identifies forms and story events, but does not publish one ranking across these continuities.
How this ranking works
The ranking weighs demonstrated combat output, practical utility and control, any story-supported costs, narrative importance, and visual identity. Those measures do not always point to the same winner. A form can be a major character milestone without having a directly comparable showing in another continuity, and a striking design is not proof of greater strength.
To avoid false precision, the entries below do not assign power multipliers or exact power levels. Continuity labels matter: GT’s Super Saiyan 4, DAIMA’s Super Saiyan 3, and the manga’s Ultra Ego do not belong to one shared on-screen progression. Some entries are also related states rather than wholly separate transformation families.
Vegeta’s major forms, ranked
| Rank | Form and continuity | Why it lands here |
|---|---|---|
| 11 | Great Ape / Oozaru — main Z-era Saiyan history | A foundational Saiyan transformation, but an early point in Vegeta’s progression rather than a later named power state. |
| 10 | Super Saiyan — main Z/Super | The defining golden-haired transformation that begins Vegeta’s familiar Super Saiyan sequence. |
| 9 | Super Vegeta — main Z-era | An enhanced Super Saiyan state, not a separate transformation family. |
| 8 | Super Saiyan 2 — main Z/Super | A distinct step beyond the foundational Super Saiyan state. |
| 7 | Majin Vegeta — main Z-era | A story-specific Babidi empowerment layered onto Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 2 state. |
| 6 | Super Saiyan God — main Super | A divine transformation distinct from Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. |
| 5 | Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Super Saiyan Blue) — main Super | A Super Saiyan God going Super Saiyan; an established form with a distinct blue-haired look. |
| 4 | Super Saiyan God SS Evolved (Blue Evolved) — main Super game roster | An officially named Evolved state, though the roster label alone does not establish its mechanics or a cross-continuity placement. |
| 3 | Super Saiyan 4 — GT | A major GT transformation with a separate continuity identity, not a rung in Super’s sequence. |
| 2 | Super Saiyan 3 — DAIMA | A significant DAIMA-era addition to Vegeta’s named forms. |
| 1 | Ultra Ego — Dragon Ball Super manga | A distinct manga form unveiled through training with Beerus; its number-one position is an editorial choice, not a measured victory over forms from other continuities. |
11. Great Ape / Oozaru — main Z-era Saiyan history
Great Ape belongs to Vegeta’s Saiyan history, well before the later Super Saiyan branches. Its importance here is as a reminder that his transformation story did not begin with golden hair. It is not a Super Saiyan form, and the available official roster material does not supply a multiplier that would justify a numerical comparison.

10. Super Saiyan — main Z/Super
This is Vegeta’s foundational golden-haired Super Saiyan transformation and the reference point for several later states. Its importance is both practical and narrative: it establishes the form family that includes Super Vegeta and Super Saiyan 2. That foundational role does not, by itself, make it the most capable entry in this ranking.
9. Super Vegeta — main Z-era
“Super Vegeta” is best treated as an enhanced Super Saiyan state, rather than a wholly separate branch. The name marks a distinct power-up in Vegeta’s Z-era progression; it should not be confused with his later Super Saiyan 2 or divine forms. Its placement reflects that narrower role, not a claim about a precise gap in strength.

8. Super Saiyan 2 — main Z/Super
Super Saiyan 2 is a transformation in its own right, not another name for Majin Vegeta. Keeping the two separate makes the ranking clearer: one is a form, while the other is a story-specific empowerment associated with Vegeta’s later conflict in the Z era.
7. Majin Vegeta — main Z-era
Babidi’s Majin empowerment is a defining story event and should not be listed as though it were simply another Super Saiyan tier. Official roster material distinguishes Majin Vegeta from Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta, supporting the distinction between the visible transformation and the added, story-specific empowerment. Its place here recognizes that combination without inventing a multiplier or a universal comparison with later forms.

6. Super Saiyan God — main Super
Super Saiyan God is a divine form and a separate entry from Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. The distinction matters because “Super Saiyan Blue” is the common nickname for the latter, not for Super Saiyan God. Vegeta appears as Super Saiyan God in official franchise game material; that fact alone does not establish a particular method by which he acquired the form.
5. Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, or Super Saiyan Blue — main Super
Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan is the formal name used in official material; Super Saiyan Blue is its common nickname. The form is described as a Super Saiyan God going Super Saiyan, and its blue hair and pupils give it a clear visual identity. It is not simply another name for Super Saiyan God: the two are distinct states.

4. Super Saiyan God SS Evolved, or Blue Evolved — main Super game roster
The official roster uses the name “Super Saiyan God SS Evolved Vegeta.” That label establishes Evolved as a named state associated with Vegeta, but the material used for this ranking does not establish a detailed mechanical explanation, a stamina cost, or a reliable comparison with forms from GT, DAIMA, or the manga. The placement is therefore a reasoned editorial judgment, not a technical measurement.
3. Super Saiyan 4 — Dragon Ball GT
Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 4 belongs specifically to Dragon Ball GT. It should not be silently folded into the progression of the main Dragon Ball Super anime or manga. GT’s official franchise material also discusses Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta in connection with Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta; Gogeta is a fusion, however, so he is not included as one of Vegeta’s individual forms here.

2. Super Saiyan 3 — Dragon Ball DAIMA
Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta is a notable DAIMA form and a major addition to his list. Official Dragon Ball and Bandai materials identify the form with DAIMA, so this entry is labeled accordingly rather than treated as evidence that Vegeta uses it in every continuity. Its high placement reflects its significance as a named transformation in the series covered here, not a shared power-scale result against GT or manga forms.
For collectors, the official announcement identifies an S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta -DAIMA- figure with interchangeable parts. An announcement is not confirmation of current retailer stock or availability in every region.
1. Ultra Ego — Dragon Ball Super manga
Vegeta unveils Ultra Ego after training with Beerus in the Dragon Ball Super manga. It is a manga form in this ranking; do not mistake its inclusion for an appearance in the Dragon Ball Super television anime. Ultra Ego takes the top editorial spot because it is a distinct, consequential form in Vegeta’s later manga story. No official source reviewed here gives an objective cross-form ranking that proves it outranks GT’s Super Saiyan 4 or DAIMA’s Super Saiyan 3.
Quick Recap
What “best” means depends on the question
- For a clear classic progression: Great Ape leads into Vegeta’s Super Saiyan-era forms, with Super Vegeta as an enhanced state and Majin Vegeta as a story-specific empowerment rather than a separate transformation family.
- For Super-era naming: Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan are different forms; Blue is the common nickname for the latter. Evolved is a separately named state in official roster material.
- For cross-continuity context: Super Saiyan 4 is GT, Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta is DAIMA, and Ultra Ego is from the Super manga. Their ranks here are editorial comparisons, not positions on an official universal chart.
- For personal favorite: Visual identity is subjective. Great Ape, golden Super Saiyan, Blue, GT’s Super Saiyan 4, DAIMA’s Super Saiyan 3, and manga Ultra Ego each make a different design statement; liking one best does not make it the strongest.
