WeTV: Asian & Local Drama is a legitimate streaming service and its app is free to download. Get it from the official app store for your device, or watch through WeTV’s website. Some programmes are free with ads, while VIP or other paid access is required for some titles and episodes. On Mac, the App Store listing supports Apple-silicon Macs running macOS 11 or later; an Intel Mac can use the web player.
Make sure you have the right WeTV
WeTV Asian & Local Drama is an international streaming service for Asian entertainment, including Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Thai dramas, anime, films, variety shows and local or regional productions. Available titles, release timing, subtitles and dubbing vary by country and programme. WeTV advertises multiple subtitle languages and up to 4K quality, but neither is guaranteed for every title, device or region. Visit the official WeTV service.
It is different from WE tv, the U.S. cable network at wetv.com. That service has different apps and uses TV-provider authentication; its logins and subscriptions are not the same as WeTV Asian & Local Drama. WE tv’s support page explains its viewing options.

Store listings and app availability can differ by country. If the app does not appear, start at WeTV’s download page or use the web player; avoid unofficial APK mirrors and “premium unlocked” downloads.

Install WeTV on Android
- Open Google Play and search for WeTV: Asian & Local Drama, or use the official Google Play listing.
- Check that the developer is Image Future or Image Future Investment (HK) Limited, as displayed in your store.
- Tap Install, then open the app and sign in or create an account if prompted.
- Find a title and check its episode label before playback; some episodes require VIP or another purchase.
The Google Play listing identifies the app as ad-supported and offering in-app purchases. Its download count and update details can vary over time and by store region.
Install WeTV on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store and search for WeTV Asian & Local Dramas, or open the official App Store listing.
- Confirm the provider is IMAGE FUTURE INVESTMENT (HK) LIMITED.
- Tap Get and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple Account password.
- Open WeTV, sign in if needed, and check the selected episode’s access label.
The app is listed as free with in-app purchases. Minimum operating-system requirements and prices vary by storefront, so check the listing for your country. If the U.S. listing is unavailable, search your local App Store or use WeTV’s official download page.
Can you download WeTV on a Mac?
Apple-silicon Macs
The reviewed App Store listing shows compatibility with Macs using an Apple M1 chip or later and macOS 11 or later. To check, open the Mac App Store, search for WeTV Asian & Local Dramas, open the listing and review its Compatibility section. If your Mac meets the listed requirements and the app is available in your storefront, choose Get or Install. Intel Macs and other computers
The reviewed listing does not establish compatibility with Intel Macs. Use the browser player at wetv.vip instead of downloading an unverified “WeTV for Mac” installer. The website is also the straightforward option for Windows and Linux computers.
Watch WeTV in a browser
- Open https://wetv.vip/en.
- Browse or search for a programme and select an episode.
- Sign in if that title or feature requires an account.
- Use the player’s subtitle, quality and full-screen controls where available.
This is browser access to WeTV’s online service, not a claim that the site offers a downloadable Progressive Web App. Availability and playback features may differ from the mobile app.
What is free on WeTV?
“Free” describes the app download, not unlimited access to the catalogue. WeTV offers some ad-supported viewing, while some titles, episodes, early releases or features may require VIP or another paid transaction. Some markets also offer paid items or coins, and certain features may require a free account. Check each title and episode in your region before assuming a series is entirely free.

WeTV advertises more than 1,000 dramas, films and entertainment programmes on its official download page; that is the service’s own catalogue claim, not an independently audited count. Check WeTV’s current download and VIP information.
Find subtitles and adjust the app language
During playback, open the player controls and choose Subtitle or CC, then select from the languages offered for that title. Subtitle options are not universal; WeTV’s help documentation notes that copyright restrictions can limit availability. The app may follow your device language, and the help page describes language controls under Account > Settings > Language; labels can vary with the app version. Read WeTV’s help information.

WeTV’s documented download workflow is for its mobile app. Downloads are managed inside WeTV rather than saved as ordinary video files that you can move freely.

- Open a programme’s details page in the app.
- Tap the download button near the title or episode information.
- Select an episode and resolution if those options are offered.
- Find saved episodes under Account > Download.
The download button may be absent when an episode does not support offline viewing, the feature is app-only, the episode requires VIP, or your account, region or app version does not offer it. WeTV’s help page describes the steps but does not establish that every episode is downloadable. WeTV help: downloading episodes.

Prices vary by country, platform, currency, tax, promotion and account region. Storefront snapshots can reflect different products or entitlements, so a price shown in one country or listing is not a universal WeTV rate. Check the amount, billing period and terms on your own App Store, Google Play or WeTV checkout screen before subscribing.
Uninstalling WeTV does not cancel a subscription. Cancel through the store where you subscribed: use Apple’s subscription settings for an Apple-billed subscription, or Google Play’s subscription management for one billed by Google. A subscription purchased through one store may not be manageable through another. WeTV’s official help page gives cancellation guidance.

Troubleshoot common WeTV problems
The app does not appear in the store
- Start from WeTV’s official download page and search the exact app name in your local store.
- Check the developer and your device’s compatibility; some storefronts may display Tencent Video-related branding.
- App distribution varies by country. If the listing is unavailable, try the official browser service rather than an APK mirror.
The Mac app says it is incompatible
Check the listing’s Compatibility section. The reviewed listing shows macOS 11 or later and an Apple M1 chip or later; Intel Mac support is not established. On an Intel Mac, use the web player.
A title appears but will not play
Check whether the episode is restricted by regional rights, VIP or another purchase, or an account requirement. Sign in, inspect the episode label, try another title, update the app and test the official website. A title visible in search is not necessarily licensed for playback in your location, and VPN use is not a guaranteed fix.
Subtitles or the download button are missing
Subtitle languages and offline downloads are title-specific and may be limited by rights, region, account entitlement or app version. Try another episode and check the player controls or programme details; the browser and mobile app may expose different features.
Playback is buffering or display orientation is wrong
- Try another title to see whether the issue affects one programme or playback generally.
- Lower video quality and test both Wi-Fi and cellular data.
- Restart the app or browser and install any available app update.
- On mobile, turn off split-screen mode if full-screen display or orientation is misbehaving; WeTV’s help center mentions this check for certain display problems.
- In a browser, clear the cache or try another supported browser.
Your VIP access does not appear on another device
Sign in using the same WeTV account and login method used for the purchase. Using a different social sign-in can lead to what looks like a separate account. WeTV’s help says an in-app purchase can be used to sign in to computer and TV versions with the same account, subject to the applicable entitlement. Consult WeTV’s account and subscription help.
