Yes—but the returning characters belong to Digimon Adventure-beyond-, a reported 25th-anniversary short, not to DIGIMON BEATBREAK, the separate new television series. The short is described as featuring Tai, Agumon, and the original DigiDestined; Beatbreak introduces a new lead pair and premise.
Which Digimon project brings back Tai and Agumon?
Coverage of Digimon Adventure-beyond- describes it as a 25th-anniversary short featuring Tai, Agumon, and the classic DigiDestined. The same report says it depicts a previously unseen scene leading into the ending of Digimon Adventure 02. These details come from secondary coverage; an accessible official announcement confirming the short’s format, scene placement, or cast was not available. Crunchyroll coverage surfaced via IMDb.
The returning-character news should not be read as confirmation that the original cast is back for the new TV anime. The accessible evidence does not establish which voice actors, if any, reprise their roles in the anniversary short.
Is DIGIMON BEATBREAK the same project?
No. Toei announced DIGIMON BEATBREAK as a new television series at DIGIMON CON 2025, separate from the Adventure anniversary short. Its story centers on Tomoro Tenma and Gekkomon, alongside the bounty-hunting team Glowing Dawn. Toei Animation’s announcement.

Beatbreak has its own world-building: human thoughts and emotions generate e-Pulse, which powers AI support devices, while Digimon evolve by consuming e-Pulse. Toei’s English series description puts it this way: “Digimon are living beings that evolve by consuming e-Pulse.” Toei Animation’s series page.
