Susan Foreman appears in the newer Doctor Who stories The Interstellar Song Contest and Wish World; the official character profile identifies Wish World as her most recent appearance. Carole Ann Ford, who originated the role, also returned as Susan in the 1983 story The Five Doctors. No further Susan appearance is confirmed by the available official updates.
Who is Susan Foreman?
Susan is the Doctor’s granddaughter and one of his earliest travelling companions. The official Susan Foreman character profile says she was the first of the Doctor’s companions to leave him. After the Dalek invasion of Earth, she settled there with David Campbell.
Introduced as a pupil at Coal Hill School, Susan travelled with the Doctor aboard the TARDIS. Her early stories include An Unearthly Child, The Daleks, The Edge of Destruction and The Dalek Invasion of Earth.
Which Doctor Who stories feature Susan’s return?
The official character profile lists The Interstellar Song Contest and Wish World among Susan’s stories, with Wish World named as her most recent appearance. The page establishes those titles and the order of recency, but does not specify the scope or plot significance of her appearances in them.

There is also a distinct earlier return by the actor who originated Susan. BBC Studios’ 2013 press release about Carole Ann Ford says she played Susan until the character left the TARDIS in 1964, then reprised the role in the 1983 episode The Five Doctors.
| Appearance | What is established |
|---|---|
| The Five Doctors (1983) | BBC Studios records that Carole Ann Ford reprised Susan in the episode. |
| The Interstellar Song Contest | Listed as one of Susan’s stories on the official character profile; narrative scope is not stated there. |
| Wish World | Listed as Susan’s most recent appearance on the official character profile; narrative scope is not stated there. |
Is another Susan appearance confirmed?
No. The official profile identifies Wish World as her most recent appearance, but does not announce a future one. The BBC’s June 10, 2026 programme update says the previously announced Christmas episode will not proceed and that the programme will be put out to competitive tender. It does not say Susan was intended to appear in that episode or announce her return in another production.

The same update said a new Doctor Who animated series for CBeebies was in production at that time. That production detail does not confirm Susan’s participation.
