But when asked about the money on March 26, 2025, he said it was not yet in his account. The sources available do not confirm whether he received it later, so it is not established that he still has not been paid.
What Genat said about the payout
In an Entertainment Weekly interview published March 26, 2025, reporter Dalton Ross asked Genat whether he finally had the money. Genat replied, “No!” and said, “But I’ve already started spending it! That’s what’s been going on. It’s not in the account just yet.” Those remarks describe his situation on the interview date, not a confirmed status today.

Genat said he had not asked when payment would arrive. He also recalled signing a document intended to facilitate payment. The interview did not give a payment date or schedule.
How much did David Genat win?
Peacock’s March 26, 2025 winner announcement says Genat secured a US$5.8 million deal in the Season 2 finale. Paramount Australia & New Zealand’s announcement the next day also reported the US$5.8 million win and published Genat’s reaction: “5.8 million dollars I actually can’t even believe it.”

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported the prize as approximately A$9.2 million at the time of its March 28, 2025 article. That was a contemporaneous conversion, not a current exchange-rate figure. The reported prize amounts are not confirmed net-of-tax sums; the sources do not establish what Genat ultimately received after any deductions.
Does he still not have the money?
That is not established. The documented statement that the prize was not in Genat’s account dates to March 26, 2025. The sources cited here do not confirm a later payment, but they also do not show that the money remains unpaid. The most accurate answer is that he said he had not yet received it as of that interview; his later payout status is unconfirmed.

Did the show’s cancellation affect the prize?
TVLine reported on December 2, 2025 that NBC had canceled the series after two seasons. That is a separate show-development update, not evidence about whether Genat was paid.
