Joe Manganiello said CK looked into a box to select Lete’s coin after putting their alliance at risk on Deal or No Deal Island. In a February 12, 2025, interview with Entertainment Weekly, the host described the move as an attempt to get Lete to pursue a high-value case that could protect CK. That explanation is Manganiello’s account of CK’s strategy, not independent confirmation of her intent.
What Manganiello said happened
Dalton Ross asked Manganiello about CK being caught looking into the box to choose Lete’s coin. Manganiello said CK and Lete had formed an alliance, but he viewed Lete as having played honestly and straightforwardly up to that point.

To explain that contrast, Manganiello recalled Lete going for the $4 million case in an earlier sandcastle challenge, removing it first, then helping other players dig for their cases and trying to save Rock from elimination. He said CK, by contrast, had used her jump to target Dickson rather than protect Lete.
Manganiello said Dickson could have eliminated CK after beating the Banker but sent Storm home instead. He interpreted CK’s subsequent coin choice as an effort to make up for her earlier move and prompt Lete to jump for a high-value case in CK’s defense.

“Then, to try and make up for it, CK cheated in order to pick Lete’s coin so that she would hopefully then jump for a high value case in order to protect CK.”
That is Manganiello’s retrospective explanation of the motive. The interview describes CK looking into the box, but does not separately establish what she intended.

Why Manganiello thought CK’s move threatened the alliance
Manganiello’s account turns on a mismatch between the alliance CK had with Lete and the way he believed the two had played. He characterized Lete’s actions as consistent with an honest, direct game, while CK’s decision to target Dickson rather than use her jump to help Lete put the partnership in jeopardy.
In Manganiello’s telling, selecting Lete’s coin was a strategic attempt to restore that relationship by encouraging Lete to take a risk that might benefit CK. That reading belongs to the host; the interview does not present a separate account from CK or Lete that verifies the motive.

Manganiello’s comments on Parvati and Phillip
The interview also addressed tension between Parvati and Phillip. Manganiello said Phillip had watched Parvati manipulate other players and was prepared when she tried to manipulate him. He suggested that Phillip’s frustration with Parvati informed his sharp comment to CK. This, too, was Manganiello’s interpretation of the players’ social dynamics, rather than an independently established explanation of Phillip’s motive.
