Yes—eligible YouTube Partner Program creators can earn YouTube Premium revenue when Premium members watch their live streams, including a 24/7 livestream. YouTube says Premium revenue is allocated according to how much members watch. Its public guidance does not give a separate formula, per-view rate, or guaranteed payout for continuous streams.
How YouTube Premium revenue works on a live stream
YouTube distributes a share of Premium membership fees to creators based on members’ viewing of their content. That revenue is distinct from advertising: it does not depend on an ad being served during a particular viewing session. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance also lists Premium revenue as a way eligible creators can earn from live content.
For a 24/7 stream, the supported conclusion is the general one: Premium members’ viewing can contribute to Premium revenue if the stream and channel meet the applicable monetization requirements. YouTube’s published pages do not describe a special calculation for always-on streams, so they do not establish what a particular channel or stream will earn.
What you need to be eligible
- Join the YouTube Partner Program. YouTube’s Watch Page monetization guidance covers long-form videos and live-streaming videos. See Choose how you want to monetize.
- Accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube identifies this module as a requirement for Watch Page monetization, which includes Premium revenue on eligible content. Details are in Your content & YouTube Premium.
- Turn on Watch Page ads as directed by YouTube. YouTube’s Premium guidance tells long-form creators to accept the module and turn on Watch Page ads to earn Premium revenue. This is an account setup requirement; it does not mean every Premium viewing must produce an ad impression.

Premium revenue is not the same as live-ad revenue
Live-stream advertising depends on ad delivery, and YouTube warns that “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” That limitation concerns advertising; it does not mean Premium members’ eligible viewing is unpaid. Premium revenue is based on members’ viewing, while ad revenue depends on whether ads are served and other applicable factors. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.
YouTube reported an “Over 20% uplift in instream ad revenue per hour” in a January 2024 comparison of creators who enabled automatic live mid-roll ads with channels that had not enabled them, averaged across 207 countries. That is an advertising comparison—not a Premium payout rate, and not a forecast for an individual continuous stream.

What YouTube does not promise for a 24/7 stream
- No published 24/7-specific formula: the cited YouTube guidance does not explain a distinct calculation for continuous livestreams.
- No fixed Premium amount per view: YouTube describes allocation by how much Premium members watch, but does not publish a per-view rate in the cited guidance.
- No guaranteed earnings: these rules establish a possible revenue source, not a minimum payment or estimate for an individual channel.
- No separate ruling on every stream configuration: the guidance cited here does not spell out special treatment for interruption patterns, every continuous-stream setup, or an archived replay.
Accordingly, avoid converting watch time into a predicted payout using a made-up rate. The official guidance supports eligibility in general, not a precise calculation for a particular 24/7 broadcast.
