The key conditions are that the livestream is available as a public video-on-demand replay and is not deleted or unlisted. But a continuous 24/7 broadcast has a major archive risk: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
When livestream viewing can count toward watch hours
YouTube’s YPP guidance counts qualified watch hours from public long-form videos. A viewer can watch a qualifying livestream replay after the broadcast; watching in real time is not required. The stream must be converted to an available video-on-demand (VOD) replay, and that replay must remain public. YouTube excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD. See YouTube Partner Program overview and eligibility.
That means a public livestream archive can contribute qualified watch hours, but a live audience alone does not ensure that the time will qualify. The availability and visibility of the replay matter.
The 24/7 archive problem
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. It also warns that if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. A single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed complete replay or a dependable source of eligible replay hours. YouTube’s guidance does not promise how every continuous-stream configuration will be archived or how every edge case will be attributed.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
After a broadcast, check whether the session actually produced a replay and whether that replay is public. Do not assume that an always-on live page means the full broadcast has been saved as a VOD. YouTube recommends making the archive public to help it reach viewers after the event. See YouTube’s guidance on archiving live streams.
Which livestream hours are included or excluded?
| Livestream outcome | Can it contribute qualified watch hours? |
|---|---|
| Replay converted to VOD and public | It can contribute; viewers do not have to have watched while the stream was live. |
| Replay is unlisted | No. YouTube excludes unlisted livestreams. |
| Stream or replay is deleted | No. YouTube excludes deleted livestreams. |
| No VOD replay is available | No. YouTube excludes livestreams that are not converted to VOD. |
| Continuous stream exceeds 12 hours | Archiving is uncertain: YouTube warns that streams over 12 hours may not be captured at all. |
The table describes YouTube’s published eligibility and archive guidance; it is not a guarantee that every public replay will produce a particular number of qualified hours.

How this relates to YPP eligibility
As described in YouTube’s YPP eligibility guidance accessed in 2026, the full ads eligibility route requires 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 qualified watch hours in the prior 12 months, or 1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified Shorts views in the prior 90 days. Watch time from the Shorts feed does not count toward the 4,000-hour route. These thresholds are not automatic approval: YouTube reviews channels for policy compliance and requires applicants to meet other program requirements.
YouTube now uses the term “qualified watch hours”; its guidance says this replaced “valid public watch hours.” Do not confuse qualified watch hours with a public view count. YouTube says its public-view counting update, which began August 24, 2026, does not change YPP eligibility. See YouTube’s view-count guidance.

Practical checks for a 24/7 channel
- Confirm that each planned stream session creates a VOD replay instead of assuming a continuous broadcast will be archived in full.
- Check that the replay is public and remains available; unlisted or deleted livestreams do not qualify.
- Be cautious about relying on one session longer than 12 hours, because YouTube says it may not be captured.
- Track qualified watch hours and subscriber eligibility in YouTube Studio rather than using a public view count as a substitute.
- Review YouTube’s YPP requirements and channel policies; reaching the subscriber and watch-hour threshold does not guarantee acceptance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your 24/7 channel uses uploaded videos, StreamNeo can keep a YouTube stream running from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays uploads rather than broadcasting a camera feed. Your video streams as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. StreamNeo does not change YouTube’s VOD, archive, or watch-hour rules, so check that qualifying public replays are actually available. Monthly pricing: $9.99 per month.
