What “TV screen” means on a Lufthansa flight
Lufthansa describes its onboard system as inflight entertainment. On equipped aircraft, a personal seatback screen gives one passenger access to the system. That is different from overhead monitors shared by several rows, and both are different from watching content on your own device.
The available entertainment includes films, TV series and programs, documentaries, music, audiobooks, podcasts and games. Lufthansa’s general description does not establish that every aircraft carries the same catalog or that every flight offers live television. A library of recorded TV programs is not the same as live broadcast channels. Lufthansa’s onboard entertainment page describes the content categories.
Lufthansa’s 2026 advertising-media material describes a long-haul entertainment environment with more than 350 movies and around 400 TV productions. Those are figures in Lufthansa Ambient Media’s published advertising material, not a guarantee that the complete selection will be available on a particular flight. Screen expectations by flight and cabin

For older cabins, “long-haul” is a useful indicator that an inflight entertainment system is likely, not a guarantee of a particular screen at every seat. Lufthansa lists long-haul aircraft such as the Airbus A330, A340, A350 and A380, as well as the Boeing 747-8 and 747-400. Fleet type alone does not settle the matter: cabins within an aircraft family can differ, and the airline may change the aircraft. See the long-haul seat maps for aircraft information.
Personal screens, Wi-Fi and streaming are not interchangeable
A seatback entertainment screen, FlyNet Wi-Fi and entertainment streamed to a passenger’s own phone or tablet are separate things. Lufthansa offers onboard connectivity, but its general information does not establish that the full entertainment library can be streamed to personal devices on every aircraft. Use personal-device streaming only if the specific flight’s onboard system confirms it.

Likewise, the presence of TV programs in an on-demand library does not establish that live news or sports channels are available. Treat live TV as aircraft- or system-specific unless Lufthansa confirms it for your flight.

How to check your exact Lufthansa flight
- Find the aircraft type. Check the flight details during booking or in Manage My Booking. Treat the displayed aircraft as the best available clue, not a guarantee.
- Compare it with Lufthansa’s seat maps. Start with the seat-map hub; for a long-haul aircraft, consult the long-haul aircraft pages.
- Check the cabin generation. If the flight is advertised as Allegris, use the relevant cabin page for its published screen specifications. Do not apply Allegris specifications to an older cabin on the same route or aircraft family.
- Recheck close to departure. An aircraft substitution can change screen availability, display size, power outlets, audio connections and other cabin features.
- Ask Lufthansa or the operating carrier if the details remain unclear. The operating carrier matters on codeshare itineraries, and an aircraft-family name by itself may not identify the installed cabin.
What to bring in case the screen is missing or fails
- Charge your phone or tablet before boarding and download films, series or other entertainment for offline use.
- Bring headphones you can use with your own device. Allegris Economy specifically lists Bluetooth connectivity, but do not assume Bluetooth works with every older seatback system.
- If you want to listen through a seatback screen, consider bringing wired headphones or an adapter compatible with airline audio sockets; socket types and headphone availability can vary.
- Pack a charging cable and, where permitted, a backup battery. A screen at your seat does not guarantee a particular USB or AC power arrangement.
- Keep an offline option available: a screen may be fitted but inoperative, frozen or temporarily unavailable because of a system fault.
