He died on April 10, 2024, at age 57. His family later confirmed a cause of death as diabetes-related coronary artery and kidney disease, according to HOT 97.
Who was DJ Mister Cee?
Calvin LeBrun, known professionally as Mister Cee, was a New York DJ whose career spanned live hip-hop, artist collaborations and radio. His influence is best understood through those documented roles rather than a single claim about his place in the culture.
He served as DJ for Big Daddy Kane and was an executive producer on The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1994 debut album, Ready to Die, the Associated Press reported. That credit places him in the work around a landmark album, but it does not mean he was its sole producer or solely responsible for Biggie’s career. The Associated Press’s obituary documents both connections.
How did Mister Cee die?
Mister Cee died on April 10, 2024, aged 57. On April 16, HOT 97 reported that his family confirmed the cause as diabetes-related coronary artery and kidney disease. The medical details should be attributed to that family confirmation as relayed by the station. The Associated Press’s report the day after his death said a cause had not yet been announced; it preceded HOT 97’s later update.
