DDG defended Halle Bailey after she objected to learning from the public that their son, Halo, had appeared with his father on Kai Cenat’s livestream. Bailey later said she may have overreacted and that she knew Halo was safe with DDG; her concern, she explained, was not being told about the appearance beforehand. DDG asked viewers not to attack her or turn the disagreement into a fight between the former couple.
What happened on the livestream?
On November 6, 2024, Halo appeared with DDG during Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 2 livestream. Teen Vogue reported that Bailey was out of town and had not been notified in advance. Bailey initially posted on X that she had not approved of Halo appearing on the stream and was upset that he was in front of a large audience without her knowing beforehand. Teen Vogue’s November 8 report covered the appearance and her response.

What did Halle Bailey say afterward?
On November 7, Bailey followed up, saying she might have overreacted by bringing the issue online. As Teen Vogue reported her post, she wrote: “I know that Halo is always safe with his dad. I just don’t like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing.” She also thanked Cenat for gifts for Halo.
Her follow-up made a distinction between Halo’s safety while with DDG and her frustration at not being informed about his public appearance. The reports do not establish a broader account of what the parents had agreed to in advance.

How did DDG defend Bailey?
DDG addressed the online reaction in a YouTube video, criticizing the hate Bailey was receiving and asking people not to pit them against each other. Teen Vogue quoted him saying: “I don’t like when people hate on Halle. I don’t care if people think she wrong or not, or if I think she wrong or right.”
He described their shared aim as giving Halo a safe, fun and memorable childhood. Complex also reported DDG saying Bailey could be “going through something mentally after having a kid that I can’t understand as a man.” These remarks were reproduced in contemporaneous entertainment-news coverage. Complex’s November 8 report covered his response.

The dispute centered on a child’s appearance before a large livestream audience and Bailey’s account that she learned about it without advance notice. Her later clarification acknowledged that Halo was safe with his father while preserving her point about being informed. DDG’s response, meanwhile, pushed back against the online backlash rather than inviting people to take sides.
The exchange came shortly after Bailey and DDG announced their split in early October 2024. Teen Vogue reported that DDG’s announcement described them as best friends who adored each other.
