In Dispatch, Robert Robertson goes from piloting the superhero identity Mecha Man to working behind a desk after his mech suit is destroyed. Episodes 1, “Pivot,” and 2, “Onboard,” introduce that abrupt career change: Robert takes a dispatcher job at the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN), where he must send a team of former villains to emergencies.
What happens in Dispatch episodes 1 and 2?
The opening pair sets up a superhero story with an office-job twist. The official Steam description says that Robert’s mech suit is destroyed in a battle against his nemesis. Without the suit that made him Mecha Man, he faces a forced change of direction. Reviews identify the first episode as “Pivot” and describe Blonde Blazer offering Robert work as an SDN dispatcher; the second, “Onboard,” moves into the dispatch role more fully.
That gives the two episodes a clear broad arc: Robert loses the tool that defined his superhero career, then gets a chance to stay in the hero business in an unexpected capacity. The episode titles and job offer are reported by reviewers, while the official description establishes the larger premise. This recap stays with that supported outline rather than treating unverified scene details or episode-ending choices as settled plot points.
What does Robert do at SDN?
Robert’s new job is to manage a roster and decide which hero should respond to which emergency. The official description frames dispatching as a strategy-map activity: players assess situations and send heroes, rather than simply controlling Mecha Man in a fight. That makes the map more than a backdrop. It is where Robert’s new responsibilities become the game’s central working rhythm.

He is also tasked with rehabilitating former supervillains. The team’s members bring a history that complicates the idea of an ordinary superhero unit: Robert is not just assigning capable responders, but managing a group whose members are trying to make a different kind of life work. The official listing describes roster management, relationships, and story choices as part of that job.
Why the opening shifts between strategy and workplace drama
Dispatch is not presented as either a pure action game or a dialogue-only story. Assignments on the map ask the player to match heroes to emergencies, while conversations and choices shape workplace relationships and can affect allegiances and the story, according to AdHoc Studio’s official Steam listing. The two sides reinforce each other: decisions about the roster sit alongside the people and tensions behind it.

That mix gives the opening episodes their defining contrast. Robert has lost the armored means to act as Mecha Man, but he has not left the superhero world. His new influence comes through choosing who goes out, managing the team, and navigating the office. The game’s own description calls it “a superhero workplace comedy where choices matter,” a concise statement of how its tone and mechanics meet.

The setup gives Robert a route toward rebuilding his suit and pursuing revenge, but his immediate challenge is making the SDN job and its unlikely team function. That is the premise the official listing lays out; the available episode descriptions support the pivot into dispatching, not a precise account of every scene or the final decision in either chapter.
