Disney’s 2025 live-action musical Snow White received an unfavorable overall critical reception, but critics singled out Rachel Zegler’s performance as a strength. Rotten Tomatoes’ current critics consensus praises her “luminous star turn” while faulting the film’s treatment of its source material and some stylistic choices. The page available for this article does not provide a verifiable current Tomatometer percentage, so no numeric score is stated.
What critics said about Disney’s Snow White
Rotten Tomatoes’ critics consensus reads: “Snow White is hardly a grumpy time at the movies thanks to Rachel Zegler’s luminous star turn, but its bashful treatment of the source material along with some dopey stylistic choices won’t make everyone happy, either.” The consensus therefore draws a distinction between its lead performance and the film around it. Rotten Tomatoes’ film page presents that consensus, but the captured page does not establish a current numeric Tomatometer or audience score.
Reviews were mixed rather than uniformly negative. Some critics regarded the film as one of Disney’s better live-action adaptations and praised Zegler; others objected to its visual design, its handling of the material, or the balance between modernization and fidelity. Associated Press critic Jake Coyle gave it two stars out of four.
Why the updates divided reviewers
Coyle described the adaptation’s aims as giving Snow White more agency, broadening the story’s idea of fairness, and reframing the prince character. He wrote that the changes amounted to “a mishmash of a fable, caught in between now and once upon a time.” That is Coyle’s assessment of how the changes fit together, not a consensus shared by every reviewer.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
He also praised Zegler’s ability to carry the role while criticizing the performances and presentation around her, writing: “Zegler manages that, but everyone else in ‘Snow White’ — mortal or CGI — is as stiff as could be.” His conclusion was that recapturing the original’s magic remained elusive. Those are the judgments of one critic; the range of early reviews was broader.
What the Rotten Tomatoes score does—and does not—tell you
The word “Rotten” describes an unfavorable Tomatometer classification, not a numerical rating out of 100 and not a verdict that every critic disliked the movie. Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer reflects the share of counted reviews classified as positive; it is different from an average star rating and from the audience score. Because the available page content does not establish the current figures, a release-week percentage should not be presented as today’s score. The review consensus and individual published reviews offer more useful detail about the reasons for the reaction.

What kind of film is it?
Disney describes Snow White as a live-action musical reimagining of its 1937 animated feature. Rachel Zegler plays Snow White, Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen, and Marc Webb directed. The film’s adaptation choices include a more active Snow White, a reframed prince character, and an expanded idea of fairness; reviewers disagreed about how successfully those elements worked together. Disney’s film page gives the official release information.

The report noted that the release run-up included controversy over the CGI dwarfs and public reaction to comments by Zegler. Those details provide context, but the reported figures do not establish that any single factor caused the box-office result. The AP opening report covers the launch-period numbers and context.
