DisneyNOW and Disney+ are different services. DisneyNOW is a browser-based way to watch selected Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD programming, with full episodes and live network streams generally unlocked through a participating TV provider. Disney+ is a paid streaming subscription for on-demand films, series and originals across Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and other brands.
Choose DisneyNOW if you want current network programming and already have an eligible TV package. Choose Disney+ for a broader on-demand library, a conventional streaming app and downloads on its Premium plan. One important catch: DisneyNOW’s mobile and streaming-device apps are no longer available; the service remains accessible through supported web browsers.

In short, DisneyNOW is principally tied to TV-network access; Disney+ is a subscription streaming library. Their catalogs can overlap, but neither service guarantees access to everything on the other.
What is DisneyNOW?
DisneyNOW brings together selected programming from Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD. Depending on the title and access rights, its website may offer full episodes, clips, shorts, music videos, Disney Channel Original Movies and live “On Now” programming. The catalog changes, and an episode or film can disappear when online rights expire. Check the DisneyNOW help page for current access details.

DisneyNOW does not charge a separate subscription fee, but that does not make all of its content free. Full episodes, live streams and some advance-viewing content generally require verification of a subscription to the applicable network through a participating TV provider. People without an eligible provider may still be able to watch selected episodes and clips. DisneyNOW also carries advertising.
The practical device limitation matters: Disney says its mobile and streaming-device apps are no longer available, and games are no longer available on the website. Use DisneyNOW.com in a supported desktop or mobile browser rather than expecting a current DisneyNOW app for Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, a game console or a smart TV. Listed browser requirements include Edge 80+, Firefox 71+, Chrome 80+ and Safari 13+ on desktop, with mobile browser support also described. Those minimums do not guarantee playback on every device or browser.
What is Disney+?
Disney+ is a paid, direct-to-consumer streaming service. Its programming spans Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, as well as Disney+ originals and titles such as The Simpsons. Depending on the plan and market, bundles and related features can add access to selected Hulu or ESPN content. Some content may be available within the Disney+ experience while other programming remains in a separate service or app.

Where should you watch a particular kind of Disney content?
- The latest Disney Channel, Disney Junior or Disney XD programming: Start with DisneyNOW if you have a participating TV provider. A new episode’s online availability and timing can depend on rights and provider access.
- A live Disney Channel-family network feed: DisneyNOW’s “On Now” pages are the relevant option, with provider authentication generally required. See the DisneyNOW live-TV listings.
- Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars or National Geographic films and series: Search Disney+ for the specific title. Its broad library makes it the better starting point, but do not assume every film or show is available in your country.
- Disney Channel Original Movies: DisneyNOW has a movie collection, including titles such as Camp Rock and Teen Beach Movie. Some titles may also appear on Disney+, but the catalogs and availability windows are not identical. Browse the current DisneyNOW movies page and search Disney+ directly.
- A title you see on one service: Do not assume it is on the other. Search the service you plan to use; rights and catalogs can change.
Disney+ also offers a U.S. Streams feature: continuous programming accessed from the homepage or Live Hub. Its streams may include ABC News, The Simpsons, Disney+ Playtime and other offerings depending on plan. This is a different feature from DisneyNOW’s authenticated live Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD feeds.
What does each service cost?
DisneyNOW has no separate DisneyNOW subscription charge, but full access is generally part of the cost of a qualifying TV package. If you already pay for cable, satellite or live TV, unlocking DisneyNOW may add no cost to your bill. If you would subscribe to a TV service solely to watch a few DisneyNOW titles, compare that full package cost with the content you actually need.
Disney+ requires a paid subscription. Its U.S. pricing page currently displays multiple plan and bundle contexts, so a single quoted price can be misleading. Around August 18, 2026, the cited official page listed Disney+ with Ads at $11.99 per month and Disney+ Premium at $18.99 per month or $189.99 annually; it also showed a $6.99 monthly ad-supported entry in an add-on or plan context. Because the page presents different contexts and prices can change, treat these as a dated snapshot, not a guaranteed price for a new standalone signup. Check the live Disney+ pricing and plan selector before subscribing. Plans, bundles, promotions and billing terms vary by region and partner.

If you subscribe through an app store, TV provider, Hulu or another billing partner, plan changes may need to be made through that partner. Disney+ also has bundles, but a bundle does not automatically provide DisneyNOW’s TV-provider authentication. Compare only the services you will actually use.

Which is better for kids?
For a child who mainly watches current Disney Channel or Disney Junior programming, DisneyNOW can be useful if the household already has an eligible TV package and browser viewing works for you. It offers Disney Junior mode and profiles, but its lack of current streaming-device apps may make it inconvenient in a living room.
Disney+ is generally the more flexible choice for on-demand movies and shows across Disney brands, especially when profiles, content ratings and downloads matter. DisneyNOW’s live programming and Disney+’s on-demand library serve different habits. Neither service should be treated as automatically “safe”: adults should set profiles and ratings appropriately and supervise viewing. Disney+ Streams also respects profile content-rating settings, according to its Streams guidance.
How to sign in to DisneyNOW
- Go to DisneyNOW.com in a supported browser.
- Choose the sign-in or TV-provider option.
- Select your participating cable, satellite or live-TV provider.
- Enter the username and password for that TV-provider account, then return to the program or live stream.
A key icon typically means a title requires provider authentication. A Disney+ account alone will not unlock it. If your provider is not listed, you may be limited to the episodes and clips available without sign-in; provider participation can change, so check again later or ask your provider about streaming access.

How to choose
- Choose DisneyNOW if you want current Disney Channel-family programs or live network feeds, have a participating TV provider, and are comfortable watching in a browser.
- Choose Disney+ if you want an on-demand service for Disney films, major franchises and originals, or want supported-device apps and Premium-plan downloads without needing a TV-provider login.
- Consider both if your household watches both newly aired network programming and Disney+’s broader library. The case is strongest when your existing TV package already qualifies you for DisneyNOW.
- Do not pay for both by default. If you only want movies and originals, DisneyNOW may add little. If you only need live Disney Channel programming and already have a qualifying provider, Disney+ may not solve that specific need.

Can I use DisneyNOW on Roku or Fire TV?
Do not expect a current DisneyNOW streaming-device app. Disney directs users to its website in a supported browser, and browser support on a particular TV device is not guaranteed.
Does Disney+ have live Disney Channel?
Disney+ Streams are not the same as an authenticated live Disney Channel, Disney Junior or Disney XD feed. DisneyNOW is the service associated with those network streams.
Are DisneyNOW shows on Disney+?
