Disney began expanding its redesigned Disney+ interface to more U.S. viewers on November 7, 2025. By 2026, Disney’s help pages described the new navigation as part of the operating service: a personalized For You area, separate Disney+, Hulu and ESPN hubs, a Live destination, larger profiles and more visual artwork. The redesign changes how you find programs; it does not automatically add Hulu or ESPN rights to every Disney+ subscription.
Your plan, profile, device and location determine what appears and what you can play.
What changed in the redesigned Disney+ app?
Disney’s November 2025 rollout was an expansion rather than a single switch that reached every account simultaneously. The current U.S. experience is built around these destinations:
- For You: personalized recommendations, Continue Watching, Watchlist items and other rows selected for the active profile.
- Disney+: the service’s familiar Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic browsing area.
- Hulu: a hub for select Hulu programming when the account has an eligible Hulu or bundle entitlement.
- ESPN: a plan-dependent hub for ESPN programming.
- Live: live news, sports, events and 24/7 streams where the account and service support them.
Disney also introduced more prominent profile access, poster-style artwork, video in the hero carousel and badges such as “Season Finale,” “New Series” and “New Movie.” Disney has continued refining the mobile experience, including announced iOS widgets. The company describes the work as an ongoing evolution toward a more unified Disney, Hulu and ESPN experience, not a finished replacement of every separate app.

Disney announced the broader design direction on October 2, 2025, and Engadget reported the U.S. expansion on November 7, 2025 (Disney; Engadget).
Where to find the navigation
The same service is arranged differently by device:

What the For You tab actually does
For You is a recommendation screen, not a new membership level or a separate catalog. Disney says its updated personalization system uses viewing preferences to surface recommendations across the service. Rows can include new-to-Disney+ titles, Continue Watching, Watchlist selections and recommendations based on the active profile.

Because the page is profile-specific, a child’s profile, a partner’s profile and your own profile can look substantially different. If the recommendations seem unfamiliar, check the profile before changing your subscription or assuming the catalog has changed (Disney’s design announcement).
How Hulu works inside Disney+
The Hulu tab surfaces select Hulu programming for eligible customers. Disney’s instructions are:

- Double check if the URL/website is genuine before entering card details online. Do not provide any gift card details (example: claim code) to someone you do not know or trust. There are a variety of scams in which fraudsters try to trick others into paying with gift cards.
- If you believe that your Card has been lost or stolen, notify Mastercard immediately by calling 1-833-791-7288. You will be asked to provide the Gift Card number and other identifying information.
- Use your Mastercard Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted, including online. Your Amazon.com Balance cannot be used to purchase Mastercard gift cards.
- Install or open Disney+ on a supported device.
- Sign in with the email address associated with the Hulu account or qualifying bundle.
- Start at the Disney+ home screen.
- Select the Hulu icon in the navigation bar.
Eligibility can come from Hulu, Hulu Premium or a qualifying Disney bundle. Seeing a Hulu tab does not unlock the entire Hulu catalog: some titles remain available only in Hulu’s app. Hulu + Live TV customers may also need Hulu’s app or website for live channels and DVR recordings (Disney’s Hulu-in-Disney+ help page).
How ESPN works inside Disney+
ESPN visibility and playback depend on the plan. Disney’s bundle structure includes ESPN Select and ESPN Unlimited, and bundle subscribers can watch eligible ESPN programming in Disney+ while retaining access to the broader ESPN app experience. The ESPN hub therefore is not a promise that every live event, feature or league is included with every Disney+ account. Check the exact entitlement attached to your subscription before treating a locked event as an app failure (Disney on ESPN direct-to-consumer access; Disney+ navigation and plan guidance).

These are U.S. figures shown by Disney, not a guarantee of future pricing (Disney+ pricing). The interface update itself is not a separately priced add-on; qualifying Hulu or ESPN access comes from the plan.
Why two subscribers see different tabs or locked titles
- Different subscriptions: a standalone Disney+ plan does not automatically include Hulu or ESPN.
- Different entitlements: ESPN Select and ESPN Unlimited provide different access, and Hulu availability in Disney+ is limited to eligible content.
- Different profiles: For You recommendations follow the active profile.
- Different devices: the navigation rail moves from top to left to bottom depending on the device.
- Different regions: the U.S. Hulu integration is not the same as Disney’s international Star-to-Hulu branding changes.
A visible brand tab is therefore a navigation surface, not proof that the account owns that brand’s complete catalog.

Disney’s documentation establishes the U.S. location and plan requirements. The following are practical troubleshooting steps rather than a promise that an update will force the redesign to appear:

- Confirm that you are using the service in the United States and have the intended Disney+ account active.
- Check that the correct household profile is selected.
- Update Disney+ through your device’s app store and install any available device-software update.
- Fully close and reopen Disney+.
- Sign out, then sign back in with the account tied to the Hulu or bundle subscription.
- Check the web version or another supported device to determine whether the difference is device-specific.
- Verify that the subscription is active and that its plan includes the Hulu or ESPN access you expect.
- Contact Disney+ support if the account remains inconsistent across supported devices.
What remains outside Disney+
The redesign makes switching among eligible brands easier, but it has not erased the standalone services. Some Hulu programming, Hulu + Live TV channels and DVR recordings may still require Hulu’s app or website. ESPN’s full app experience and event availability depend on the plan. A Disney+ screen can link you toward a brand without reproducing every feature that brand offers independently (Hulu access details).
Is the redesign worth caring about?
For households that already pay for Disney+, Hulu and ESPN, the unified navigation reduces app-hopping and makes bundle content easier to discover. The personalized landing page and richer artwork can also improve discovery.
The trade-off is complexity. A promotional, image-heavy home screen may feel less predictable than a direct Disney+ catalog, and brand tabs can suggest broader access than a plan actually provides. Disney’s own strategy documents frame the refresh as part of making bundles easier to use and more valuable (FY2025 commentary). That convenience is most meaningful when your subscription already includes the services behind the tabs; it is less consequential for a household using only standalone Disney+.
The Bottom Line
The Disney+ redesign primarily changes discovery and navigation. The decisive question is not whether Hulu or ESPN appears in the menu, but whether your U.S. plan includes the specific content and features behind that menu. Expect to keep Hulu or ESPN’s separate app for portions of their services.
