Disney+ Error Code 90 usually indicates that the service cannot connect or complete an access request. It can appear when the app launches, during sign-in, or when playback begins. The cause may be a temporary app failure, your device, home network, public IP address, account, or Disney+ itself. Disney’s current U.S. error-code index does not publish a dedicated definition for Code 90, so an IP block should not be treated as proven.
Start by trying Disney+ on another device or network. Then work through these five reversible fixes: fully close the app, power-cycle your equipment, disable VPNs and filters, test another connection, and update or reinstall Disney+.
What Disney+ Error Code 90 means
The message commonly resembles: “We are not able to connect with Disney+ at this point. Please try again. If the problem persists, visit the Disney+ Help Center (Error Code 90).” The wording and timing vary by device and app version.
Older troubleshooting reports associate Code 90 with connection, router, DNS, firewall, IP-routing, corrupted app data, compatibility, account, or location problems. Those are possibilities, not a confirmed universal definition. Disney’s current public list includes other documented codes but no dedicated Code 90 explanation: Disney+ error-code index.

First, determine whether Disney+ or your setup is at fault
| What you observe | Best next test | What it suggests |
|---|---|---|
| Only one TV or streaming device fails | Update or reinstall Disney+ on that device | App or device software |
| Disney+ works on cellular data but not home Wi-Fi | Try a phone hotspot or another Wi-Fi network | Router, ISP, DNS, VPN, firewall, or public IP |
| Every device fails on the same Wi-Fi | Test a different network | Home network or ISP |
| Every device and network fails | Check the account and Disney+ support | Account-wide or service-side issue |
| Only an external TV display fails | Test another HDMI port and cable | HDMI/HDCP display chain |
Disney identifies outages and ISP problems among possible streaming causes in its general streaming troubleshooting guidance.
Fix 1: Fully close and reopen Disney+
Best for: temporary app glitches, stale sessions, and launch errors.
- Exit the current video or screen.
- Use the device’s app switcher or force-close command to quit Disney+ completely.
- Wait 30–60 seconds.
- Open Disney+ and try again.
Pressing Home on a smart TV or streaming stick may only suspend the app in memory. Disney’s recommended sequence starts with completely exiting and reopening the app.
Fix 2: Power-cycle the device, modem, and router
Best for: stale network sessions and temporary router or ISP failures.

- Turn off the TV or streaming device.
- Unplug the modem and router.
- Wait at least one minute. If a normal restart fails, wait three to five minutes.
- Plug in the modem first and wait until it reconnects.
- Plug in or restart the router.
- Turn on the TV or streaming device.
- Launch Disney+ again.
The modem-first, router-second, device-last order lets each connection rebuild cleanly. Restarting may result in a different public IP on some connections, but dynamic addressing, carrier-grade NAT, or a long DHCP lease means it is not guaranteed.
Fix 3: Disable VPNs, proxies, and restrictive filters
Best for: location mismatches, unusual routing, and security or filtering conflicts.
- VPN apps and router-level VPN routing
- Proxy connections and Smart DNS services
- Location-spoofing tools
- Aggressive parental-control or DNS filtering
Disable these temporarily, restart Disney+, and test. Disney discusses VPN-related access and security problems for some errors, but does not define Code 90 specifically that way: Disney’s VPN and security guidance. Do not buy a VPN as a workaround; it can trigger the same location or security checks.
Fix 4: Test another internet connection
Best for: separating a home-network or public-IP issue from a device or account issue.

- Enjoy the show in 4K Ultra HD, with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
- Connect the affected device to another Wi-Fi network.
- On a phone or tablet, turn off Wi-Fi and test cellular data.
- For a TV or streaming stick, use a phone hotspot only briefly for diagnosis.
- Open Disney+ and retry.
- Works elsewhere: investigate the home router, ISP, DNS, firewall, VPN, or public IP.
- Fails everywhere: focus on the app, device compatibility, account, or Disney’s service.
- Works on one device only: troubleshoot the failing device rather than replacing the router.
A hotspot can consume mobile data or incur carrier charges, so treat it as a test, not a permanent streaming connection. Third-party reports link Code 90 with network or IP conditions, while Disney recommends testing the connection and checking other apps: Appuals’ Code 90 report and Disney’s streaming guidance.
Fix 5: Update, clear data, or reinstall Disney+
Best for: corrupted data, incomplete updates, and device-specific failures.
Android and Android TV

Roku, Fire TV, Apple devices, and smart TVs

- Install the latest supported TV or device-system update.
- Sign out if the app opens.
- Uninstall Disney+.
- Restart the device.

Many platforms do not expose a separate cache button. Reinstallation signs you out and may remove downloaded content. Disney recommends operating-system updates, clearing data where available, and reinstalling: official streaming troubleshooting.

If Code 90 still appears
Check MyDisney sign-in
At sign-in, verify the MyDisney email and password. Go to DisneyPlus.com, choose Log in, enter your email, then use the trouble-signing-in or one-time-code option. Enter the six-digit code sent by email; Disney says it expires after 15 minutes. A password or email change for one Disney service can update the shared MyDisney credentials. See Disney’s login instructions.
On a TV-connected device, you can also use the eight-digit code shown on screen at DisneyPlus.com/begin.
Confirm compatibility
Check that the TV, console, streaming stick, browser, and operating system remain supported in your region. Older hardware and software may no longer be compatible; availability varies by platform and location.
Check HDMI and HDCP for playback-only failures
If Disney+ works on a phone or computer but fails through a television, reconnect the HDMI cable, try another HDMI port, and temporarily remove a splitter, capture device, or AV receiver. Disney says 4K Ultra HD and HDR external displays should support HDCP 2.2: Disney streaming requirements.

Contact Disney+
Contact Disney through the Help Center support category when Code 90 persists across multiple devices and networks, a password reset does not restore access, a third-party subscription creates billing or account confusion, or you suspect account security, household verification, or a blocked account. Also contact support after reinstalling the app and power-cycling the network without improvement.
Do not permanently disable IPv6 or the router firewall. Those are advanced, temporary tests for a specific configuration and can reduce security or network functionality. Disney’s current index separately documents Codes 42, 73, 75, 83, and 93; Code 90 is not currently given its own public definition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Error Code 90 mean Disney blocked my IP?
Not necessarily. Older third-party reports associate it with IP or router problems, but Disney does not publish IP blocking as the universal meaning of Code 90.
Should I use a VPN to fix Code 90?
No. Disable VPNs while testing. VPN routing can create location or security checks and is not a dependable solution.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Will reinstalling Disney+ delete my account?
No. It removes the app, signs you out, and may remove downloads; your subscription and account remain.
How can I tell whether Disney+ is down?
If Disney+ fails on every device and network, the issue may be service-side or account-wide. If it fails only on one device or home network, troubleshoot that setup first.
