What park-goers were frustrated about
The likely issue behind the headline is the perceived cost of a Disney park visit: admission and paid extras can leave families wondering whether the experience is worth the total price. But the headline is ambiguous. At the same March 18, 2026 shareholder meeting, Disney also received questions about Lightning Lane and Disability Access Service, so the headline alone does not prove which concern it means.
The Los Angeles Times described broader public criticism around Disney’s costs and guest experience, including complaints about add-ons, app dependence for ordering food, unreliable Wi-Fi and long waits. Those examples are reported comments, not a survey establishing how representative the views are. The ticket, parking and Lightning Lane prices included in that coverage were a snapshot at the time, not current price guidance.
How D’Amaro answered the affordability question
WDW News Today reported that a shareholder asked: “How does Disney Experiences balance revenue growth from ticket pricing and attendance with maintaining positive guest satisfaction?” The outlet’s transcript quotes D’Amaro calling a park visit a “meaningful investment for families” and saying Disney wants every guest to feel the experience is worth it—ideally, “the best day of a guest’s life.” He also said the company measures its success.

On pricing, D’Amaro said Disney tries to offer “a wide range of options and different price points,” citing value seasons, multi-day ticket savings and special offers. He framed this as a way to provide choice and flexibility while managing daily attendance and the overall experience. The answer explains Disney’s stated approach; it is not a promise that base admission will fall or that every family will find a visit affordable.
Offers he cited were examples from the meeting
The report says D’Amaro referred to Disneyland Resort’s Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer, described then as tickets for children starting at $50 per day, and a kids’ free dining plan at Walt Disney World. These were historical examples mentioned at the March 2026 meeting. They do not verify that either offer is available now, so check Disney’s official resort pages for current terms before planning around a promotion.
A separate guest concern: different Lightning Lane systems
Another shareholder asked why Walt Disney World and Disneyland handle Lightning Lane reservations differently. In a separate response reported by WDW News Today, D’Amaro said the systems reflect how guests use each resort: Walt Disney World visitors typically plan farther ahead and have more parks to choose from, while Disneyland is more compact, with two parks side by side and movement between them.
He described Lightning Lane at both destinations as an optional way to reduce time spent waiting and add flexibility, while saying Disney evaluates guest feedback and operational performance. That explanation addresses the difference in resort layouts and planning patterns; it does not establish that the two systems will become identical.

What the answer does—and does not—tell guests
- It identifies Disney’s stated priorities: offer choices at different price points, manage attendance and aim for guests to feel their visit was worth the expense.
- It does not provide a satisfaction score: the meeting report says D’Amaro characterized satisfaction ratings and intent to return as very high, but gives no percentage or underlying measurement.
- It does not settle the affordability question for an individual family: total cost depends on dates, ticket length, travel and optional purchases. The reported remarks do not show what a particular trip will cost.
Who answered the shareholder
Josh D’Amaro became Disney CEO effective March 18, 2026, succeeding Robert A. Iger, according to the company’s SEC-filed announcement. The filing identifies Disney Experiences as the company’s largest business segment and reports $36 billion in FY2025 annual revenue. It also gives a worldwide workforce figure of 185,000 Cast Members and employees; that is an employee count, not a measure of park attendance.
