Yes—November 2025 coverage reported that a Pillsbury cookie-dough package showed Yoshi alongside Mario, before Nintendo and Illumination officially revealed Yoshi on January 25, 2026. The cookie-box image was an early promotional-package glimpse, not the movie’s formal announcement; the official reveal has since followed.
What appeared on the cookie box?
ComicBook.com reported that packaging for Pillsbury’s “Ready-to-Bake Yoshi Egg Sugar Cookie Dough” featured Mario alongside Yoshi, with additional imagery on the back of the package. The report made the product packaging an unexpected place to spot the character’s movie design before the official reveal. ComicBook.com’s report documents the product and the reported packaging image.
That establishes what contemporary coverage said was visible on the package. It should not be treated as a Nintendo or Illumination announcement at the time: the packaging report and the later official reveal were separate events.
When was Yoshi officially revealed?
Nintendo and Illumination revealed the first official look at Yoshi during a Nintendo Direct on January 25, 2026. Nintendo described the project as an animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. The announcement came after the cookie-package report and gave the character an official reveal. Nintendo’s January 25 announcement is the primary source for the reveal.

What happened to the movie’s release dates?
Nintendo’s January 25 announcement listed April 1, 2026, for the United States and many additional markets, April 24, 2026, for Japan, and release during April in select territories. Those were announced dates, not a complete territory-by-territory release calendar. As of October 8, 2026, all the dates in that announcement have passed.

Is the cookie dough available now?
The product name reported at the time was Pillsbury Ready-to-Bake Yoshi Egg Sugar Cookie Dough. The reporting makes it relevant to the story, but it does not establish present-day stock or confirm an eligible current Amazon listing. Availability should not be assumed from the earlier package report.

“Just leaked” described the November 2025 news moment, when the reported packaging image circulated ahead of an official Yoshi reveal. It is no longer a current description: Nintendo and Illumination made the official reveal on January 25, 2026. The enduring curiosity is how an unexpected cookie package offered an early glimpse of a movie character before that announcement.
