A June 2023 entertainment article reported that Keanu Reeves would prefer to be on Tom Cruise’s side in a film. But the available interview page confirms a discussion of a possible team-up, not Reeves saying he refuses to play Cruise’s adversary. The headline claim is therefore stronger than the independently verifiable evidence.
Where the claim comes from
The claim traces to Startefacts, which published “Here’s Why Keanu Reeves Refuses to Work with Tom Cruise” on June 30, 2023. The article attributes to Reeves a preference for teaming up with Cruise rather than playing his adversary.

What the interview page establishes
ExtraTV published an interview segment with Reeves on March 15, 2023, at the New York screening of John Wick: Chapter 4. Its subject is a possible Cruise-Reeves team-up. The page does not provide a transcript confirming the specific condition that the two actors would need to be allies.
Does Reeves refuse to play Cruise’s adversary?
That categorical wording is not established by the accessible interview page. The supported, narrower account is that Startefacts reported Reeves would prefer to be on Cruise’s side. Without a complete transcript or a direct check of the interview video, that report should not be presented as proof that Reeves categorically refuses adversarial roles opposite Cruise.

Nor do these pages establish a specific film offer, planned project, or casting decision involving the two actors. They concern a hypothetical pairing, not a confirmed production.
