Which ring was reportedly replaced?
In an August 2024 video celebrating Team GB, Kate appeared without her familiar sapphire engagement ring. JCK described the substitute as an infinity band, while Vanity Fair reported a different gemstone-encrusted ring and noted that its identity was uncertain. Both accounts place the absent ring as the engagement ring—not the Welsh gold wedding band. JCK’s August 13, 2024 report and Vanity Fair’s September 11, 2024 report differ in how they describe the newer band, so its exact design should not be treated as settled.
What rings are part of Kate’s collection?
Coverage identifies Kate’s Welsh gold wedding band and Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring, as well as eternity-style rings. Kate Middleton Style identifies an Annoushka Eclipse 18ct white-gold diamond eternity ring as an established ring she wears alongside the engagement and wedding bands. It gives the Eclipse’s diamond weight as 0.23 carat; that product detail does not identify the colored-stone band seen in 2024. Kate Middleton Style’s Annoushka Eclipse listing names the model.
What do “eternity ring” and “infinity ring” mean?
An eternity ring is a band with gemstones set around its circumference; coverage also uses “infinity ring” for this style. A half-eternity ring has stones on only one side of the band. Vanity Fair’s explanation of eternity-ring terminology describes the tradition. Jeweler Rachel Boston told Vogue that an eternity ring traditionally uses stones all the way around to represent an unbroken bond. Vogue’s July 14, 2025 article includes her comments.

Did Kate later wear the rings together?
Yes. Vogue reported that at Wimbledon in July 2025 Kate wore her sapphire engagement ring, Welsh gold wedding band, and both eternity rings together. That documents her combination for that appearance; it does not establish a permanent styling rule.
Why did she wear a different band in 2024?
No reviewed report establishes why Kate wore the colored-stone band, who gave it to her, or its exact maker and model. Neither Kate nor Kensington Palace supplied an official explanation in the cited coverage, so claims about its personal meaning or origin remain speculation.
