What Don Omar announced
On June 17, 2024, the Puerto Rican reggaeton artist posted that he had cancer. In the Spanish-language message reproduced by Noticias Caracol, he wrote: “Hoy sí, pero mañana no tendré cáncer. Las buenas intenciones son bien recibidas. Nos vemos pronto.” (“Today, yes, but tomorrow I will not have cancer. Good intentions are welcome. See you soon.”) Contemporaneous coverage said the image accompanying the post showed a hospital wristband.

He did not name the cancer type in that announcement.
What he said after the operation
On June 18, Don Omar posted another update, reported by EFE from his official Instagram account: “Hoy me levanté sin cáncer y agradecido. Gracias por sus buenos deseos, oraciones y miles de mensajes. Mi operación fue todo un éxito y ahora queda recuperarme.” He said he had woken up without cancer, thanked people for their messages and prayers, described the operation as a success, and said recovery remained.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Don Omar did not provide specifics about his condition. The contemporaneous reports cited here do not establish the cancer type, stage, prior treatment, or later medical course.

A separate Complex report relayed Univision host Raúl De Molina’s claim that he had spoken with Don Omar and confirmed the singer had his right kidney removed. That detail is secondhand reporting attributed to De Molina; it was not included in the public statements from Don Omar quoted above.
Is Don Omar cancer-free now?
What can be stated precisely is that on June 18, 2024, Don Omar said he had woken up without cancer after what he described as a successful operation, and that he still had to recover. That post does not establish his present-day medical status.

At the time, WRTV reported that the second leg of the Back to Reggaeton tour was scheduled to resume on August 7, 2024. That was a schedule reported in June 2024; it does not establish current tour plans or the eventual effect of the health news on performances.
