Kanye West accused Don Lemon of starting a story that West and Bianca Censori had been kicked out of the 2025 Grammy Awards. Lemon denied originating it and said he had corrected reports that were already circulating. The Associated Press, citing an anonymous source, reported that the couple left on their own and were not escorted out.
What happened at the 2025 Grammys?
The 67th Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025. West and Censori attended and walked the red carpet. The Associated Press reported that they left on their own rather than being escorted out. AP attributed its account of the event to an unnamed source, who said West was invited because he had been nominated for best rap song for “Carnival.” Associated Press also reported that West was invited; TheWrap likewise described him as invited. What did Kanye West accuse Don Lemon of?
On February 3, West posted an accusation against Lemon, claiming the journalist started the story that West and Censori had been kicked out. TheWrap reproduced West’s Instagram caption: “This goofball that started the rumor that me and my wife got kicked out the Grammies [sic].” TheWrap
How did Don Lemon respond?
Lemon denied starting the rumor. In a public video statement reported by TheWrap on February 3, he said he had corrected it after a person on West’s team asked him to address reports already circulating. TheWrap reproduced Lemon’s response: “First of all, Kanye, Ye — whatever your name is — I did not start a rumor about you being kicked out of the Grammys. I actually corrected it. I saw someone on your team who asked me to correct it because it had been reported everywhere.” TheWrap

Did Don Lemon start the rumor?
The available accounts do not establish who first originated the rumor. West blamed Lemon; Lemon denied doing so and said he had corrected reports that were already circulating. Those are conflicting public claims, not proof that Lemon started the story.
Were West and Censori kicked out?
AP’s account, attributed to an anonymous source, says they left on their own and were not escorted out. That supports distinguishing the reported departure from the claim that they were kicked out, but it is not an official confirmation or a complete account of what happened inside the event.
