Its release attributes the data to Nielsen and gives a measurement window of September 14–October 19, 2025, using Nielsen Panel+ Big Data P2+ Prime AA, Live+7, and Nielsen SCR, 7-Day Total Flight for streaming. The 8.86 million figure is therefore a delayed, multiplatform measurement; it should not be treated as a same-day broadcast-only rating.
How does the separate 87% streaming figure fit?
A later CBS chart result reported that Boston Blue streaming was up 87% compared with Blue Bloods the prior fall, using data through November 9, 2025. That is a separate streaming comparison, not an addition to—or an explanation of—the 8.86 million multiplatform audience total. CBS’s chart page was not accessible for full verification, so the percentage should be understood as a CBS-attributed search-result figure.

Why the comparison needs careful wording
Ratings claims can describe different things: same-day broadcast viewing, delayed viewing, streaming, or a combined audience. They can also compare a premiere with one episode, an entire season average, or a prior-year period. Those measures are not interchangeable. CBS’s 8.86 million and 6% statement supports one specific conclusion: the premiere’s Live+7 multiplatform audience exceeded Blue Bloods’ season average under the comparison CBS reported. What is Boston Blue?
The CBS drama expands the Blue Bloods universe. Donnie Wahlberg returns as Danny Reagan, who moves to Boston for a job with the Boston Police Department and partners with Detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green. The story also follows the Silver family’s law-enforcement connections and Danny’s reconnection with his son Sean.
