Yes—but the distinction matters. Breaking Rust’s “Walk My Walk” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart in November 2025, a ranking of paid digital downloads. It did not thereby become No. 1 on Billboard’s broader Hot Country Songs chart or prove it was the country song most popular across sales, streaming, and radio.
What chart did “Walk My Walk” top?
Billboard’s Nov. 3, 2025 Country Update reported that “Walk My Walk,” credited to Breaking Rust, jumped from No. 14 to No. 1 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart. Billboard reported 3,000 paid sales for that tracking week. Its Nov. 10 chart table listed the song at No. 1 again.

The 3,000 figure is a weekly paid-sales number, not lifetime sales, streams, radio audience, or total listening. The achievement is a genuine Billboard chart No. 1, but only when the specific chart is named.
What the ranking does—and does not—measure
Country Digital Song Sales tracks paid digital downloads. It is not interchangeable with Hot Country Songs, which incorporates streaming and radio airplay as well as sales. Axios explained the distinction, while TIME cautioned that the download-chart result should not be treated as proof that the song was the biggest country hit in the United States overall.

- Recorded at Nashville's historic RCA Studio A, with additional production at The Castle and Blackbird Studio, Traveller was produced by Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell) and recorded by Vance Powell (Jack White)
That difference is about measurement, not artistic merit: a sales-chart lead establishes that a song led that chart’s paid-download measure, not that it led every measure of country-music popularity.
What is known about Breaking Rust and the song’s AI connection?
Billboard characterized “Walk My Walk” as an AI-assisted composition. The Associated Press described Breaking Rust as a fictional artist represented by a digitally generated avatar. Those descriptions establish an AI association, but the cited reporting does not spell out the full production process or show that every part of the recording was made without human involvement.

Why Blanco Brown was mentioned
The Associated Press reported that listeners and commentators associated the song’s vocal phrasing, melodic shape, and stylistic character with Grammy-nominated country artist Blanco Brown. Brown told the AP, “I didn’t even know about the song until people hit me up about it.” That is reporting about perceived resemblance and attribution concerns, not a legal determination: the cited coverage does not establish a court ruling or finding of infringement.

How to describe the chart result accurately
- Accurate: “Walk My Walk” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart.
- Needs qualification: Billboard reported 3,000 sold for the tracking week cited in its Nov. 3, 2025 update.
- Unsupported by this result alone: “Walk My Walk” was the No. 1 country song in America, topped Hot Country Songs, or led the country field across downloads, streams, and radio.
