Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle is a three-film adaptation, and its first installment has already been released. As of October 8, 2026, the second film is in production but has no announced release date in the sources cited here; no date is established for the third, either. The first film, Chapter One: Akaza Returns, had a July 28, 2026 streaming premiere announcement from Crunchyroll, though that does not confirm it is currently available in every country.
How many Infinity Castle movies are planned?
Infinity Castle is planned as a trilogy, not a single movie. Aniplex announced on July 1, 2024 that the story would be produced as three films. The announcement confirmed the format, but did not set a release date for each installment. Aniplex’s announcement is the primary confirmation.
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that they had acquired the trilogy for global theatrical distribution, excluding Japan and select Asian territories from that arrangement. “Global” describes the distributors’ stated scope; it does not mean every country received the films on the same date. Local release schedules can differ. Their distribution announcement does not provide a date for each territory.
What is the status of each film?
| Installment | Confirmed status | Release date information |
|---|---|---|
| Chapter One: Akaza Returns | Released theatrically; Crunchyroll announced its streaming premiere. | Japan theatrical release began in July 2025. Crunchyroll announced a streaming premiere on July 28, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. |
| Second film | Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini said it was actively in production in an interview published May 22, 2026. | No date was given in that interview or the other sources cited here. |
| Third film | Part of the announced trilogy. | No date is established in the sources cited here. |
Film two: in production, with no date announced
In an interview reported by GamesRadar+ on May 22, 2026, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini said: “We can tell you that it is actively in production. The studio wants to bring it to fans as quickly as possible. We just don’t have a date yet.” That confirms production status as of the interview, not a release window. GamesRadar+’s interview report also described two films still to come after the first.

Film three: announced, but not scheduled
The trilogy announcement establishes that a third film is planned. The sources cited here do not give it a release date or confirm specific plot chapters, fights, or production milestones for that installment. Any more precise schedule would be speculation.
Where and when can you watch the first film?
The first film opened theatrically in Japan in July 2025, then rolled out internationally on a staggered schedule. The Associated Press reported that Comscore estimated a $70 million North American opening and a $132.1 million global opening weekend during the September 2025 release period. Those are opening-weekend figures, not lifetime box-office totals. AP’s report attributes the estimates to Comscore.
Crunchyroll announced a streaming premiere for July 28, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. That announcement establishes the premiere milestone, but not whether the film remains in the service’s catalog in your country today. Check your local Crunchyroll catalog for current availability. Crunchyroll’s streaming announcement is the source for the announced date and time.

What the box-office numbers do—and do not—show
The first film’s reported opening was substantial: Comscore estimates reported by AP put it at $70 million in North America and $132.1 million worldwide during the September 2025 opening weekend. Those numbers describe that opening period only; they are not final earnings or a measure of the later films’ performance.
