Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training was listed for release in Indian theatres on February 23, 2024, by India Today and IMAX. Sony Pictures India’s trailer description gives a different date: February 22, 2024.
When did the movie release in India?
India Today reported a February 23, 2024 theatrical release, and the IMAX film listing also gives February 23. However, the description for the Sony Pictures India trailer, published February 9, 2024, says the film would arrive in cinemas on February 22. The sources therefore differ by one day; they do not establish that the dates refer to separate nationwide release days.
India Today also reported a special advanced fan screening in Mumbai on February 21, 2024. It named Aniplex Inc., Crunchyroll, and Sony Pictures Entertainment as distributors in India, and said the release would play in IMAX and other premium large formats. India Today’s February 5, 2024 report is the source for those details.
What was shown in the theatrical event?
The event joined two pieces of the anime: the concluding episode of the Swordsmith Village Arc and episode 1 of the Hashira Training Arc. The official Demon Slayer world-tour page described both as being presented in theatres for the first time at the time of the event. It functioned as a bridge from one arc into the next, not as a feature-length adaptation of the whole Hashira Training Arc.

How does it fit into Demon Slayer?
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is based on Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga, published under Shueisha’s Jump Comics, and the animation is produced by ufotable. The official franchise page describes a 23-volume manga and says more than 150 million copies are in publication; that figure appears without a publication year, so it should not be read as a dated current sales total.
