What does To the Hashira Training contain?
The theatrical program has two parts:
- Swordsmith Village Arc, episode 11: the conclusion of Tanjiro Kamado’s confrontation with Upper Rank Four, Hantengu, including the crisis surrounding Nezuko and sunlight.
- Hashira Training Arc, episode 1: the opening chapter of the next television arc, in which the Demon Slayer Corps begins preparing for its eventual confrontation with Muzan Kibutsuji.
That structure is important. The event repeats the Swordsmith Village finale for viewers who wanted a theatrical refresher, then advances the story with the premiere of Hashira Training. It does not contain the entire Hashira Training season, and it should not be treated as a standalone film in the same sense as Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.
Where it fits in the Demon Slayer story
The event follows the Swordsmith Village conflict. Tanjiro is recovering at the Butterfly Mansion while the Corps assesses its next move. The Hashira become more directly involved as the organization prepares its members for the battle that lies ahead.
#1 Best Overall
The opening of Hashira Training introduces a Corps-wide program led by the Hashira. The official synopsis also places emphasis on missions involving Sanemi Shinazugawa and Obanai Iguro, a Hashira meeting, discussion of the Demon Slayer mark, and Tanjiro’s recovery. The dramatic emphasis shifts from surviving a single major battle to preparing an entire force for the final confrontation.
Spoiler-light viewing guide
If you have watched through the end of Swordsmith Village, the event works as a transition from recovery to preparation. Expect greater involvement from the Hashira, conversations about the Corps’ abilities and limitations, and the setup for the next stage of the conflict.
If you have already watched the complete Hashira Training Arc, the theatrical event will largely revisit material you know. Its distinct value is the large-screen presentation, the sound mix, and the experience of seeing the premiere as part of a global Demon Slayer event—not substantial new story content.

| Primary purpose | A theatrical bridge and advance screening | The full continuation of the anime story |

The television Hashira Training Arc premiered on Crunchyroll on May 12, 2024, with episodes released weekly in the territories covered by the service’s announcement at that time. Because catalogs vary by country and can change, check the current local listing before subscribing or planning a rewatch. For most viewers, the complete television arc is the more complete way to experience this part of the story.

Should you watch To the Hashira Training?
Watch it if you:
- want to see the Hashira Training premiere in a cinema;
- enjoy Demon Slayer’s large-scale animation, music, and sound design;
- have finished the earlier arcs and want a theatrical refresher before continuing;
- collect Demon Slayer theatrical events, World Tour programs, or related memorabilia.
It is less essential if you:
- have already watched the Swordsmith Village finale and the full Hashira Training Arc;
- are expecting a completely new, self-contained movie;
- want a complete season rather than a two-episode theatrical program.
Newcomers should not begin here. The event assumes knowledge of the Swordsmith Village Arc and gains much of its emotional impact from what happened there. A sensible order is Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, To the Hashira Training if you want the event experience, and then the complete Hashira Training television arc.
The theatrical presentation
To the Hashira Training was presented as part of the Demon Slayer World Tour, which was promoted across more than 140 countries and regions—an expansion from the 104-country-or-region footprint cited for the earlier To the Swordsmith Village event.

The theatrical material was upconverted to 4K and prepared for 5.1-channel, 7.1-channel, and Dolby Atmos presentation. In North America, Crunchyroll and Aniplex announced theatrical distribution beginning February 23, 2024, including IMAX and other premium large-format screenings. Availability and formats naturally depended on the cinema, country, and screening date.
These upgrades do not turn the program into a new feature-length narrative. They improve how existing and newly screened television material is presented. For fans who value ufotable’s compositing, effects, music, and sound design, that distinction can still make the event worthwhile.
Production and cast
The anime adaptation is based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s Kimetsu no Yaiba manga, published by Shueisha under the Jump Comics imprint. Official franchise materials associated with the 2024 World Tour described the manga as having reached 23 volumes and more than 150 million copies in publication at that time.

What to buy after watching
The most direct physical follow-on is the Hashira Training Arc Blu-ray: Aniplex of America’s catalog lists a Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc Complete Blu-ray Set among its limited-edition releases. It is the complete television arc previewed by the theatrical event, not evidence of a separate Blu-ray edition of the theatrical compilation. Check the product description, region compatibility, contents, and current stock before buying.
Collectors may also look for the official Demon Slayer manga, including the 23-volume source-material collection, official releases for adjacent anime arcs, licensed Demon Slayer Hashira figures, character collectibles, soundtracks, concert releases, and World Tour merchandise. Product availability, licensing, prices, and sellers vary, so distinguish publisher or officially licensed listings from unauthorized merchandise.

Aniplex’s official catalog is the most relevant place to verify publisher-released Blu-ray, CD, and merchandise offerings. A retailer listing should still be checked carefully: the words “Hashira Training” alone do not establish that a product contains the theatrical cut, and a television-arc Blu-ray should not be advertised as that compilation unless its own product page says so.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training- is best understood as a polished theatrical bridge: the Swordsmith Village finale followed by the first Hashira Training episode. It is worthwhile for fans who wanted an early cinema presentation and premium sound, but it is not a replacement for watching the complete Hashira Training television arc—and it is not a wholly original movie.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Demon Slayer: To the Hashira Training a new movie?
No. To the Hashira Training is a theatrical compilation event, not a wholly original feature equivalent to Mugen Train. It combines episode 11 of the Swordsmith Village Arc with episode 1 of the Hashira Training Arc.
Does To the Hashira Training include the whole Hashira Training Arc?
No. The program contains only the premiere episode of Hashira Training, alongside the Swordsmith Village finale. The complete story is told in the Hashira Training television arc.
What should I watch before To the Hashira Training?
Watch through the Swordsmith Village Arc first. The event assumes that background and uses the previous arc’s finale as its first half.
Is To the Hashira Training worth watching after the TV seasons?
It is most valuable if you want the large-screen presentation, premium sound, or the experience of seeing the Hashira Training premiere as a theatrical event. If you have already watched both relevant television arcs, the story material will largely be familiar.
The Bottom Line
In short: watch it for the theatrical experience and early Hashira Training premiere; watch the television arc for the complete story.
