What the September 29, 2025 update reported
The original update said Sony Pictures Entertainment had announced more than $605 million in worldwide box office revenue. For Japan, it cited production staff figures of ¥35.06 billion and 24.26 million admissions after 73 days in theaters. These are figures for that September 2025 snapshot, not the film’s eventual worldwide total. Crunchyroll News and Beebom reported the milestone.
How much did Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle make?
As checked on October 4, 2026, the two box-office databases listed close but not identical worldwide totals:

These are separate database listings, not a single audited or agreed final figure. Their roughly $96,000 difference is small relative to the total, but it is a reason to name the tracker rather than present one number as definitive. “Domestic” and “international” are the categories used by each database.

Why the reported totals differ
A later milestone report gives another useful, but not directly interchangeable, view. On April 10, 2026, Crunchyroll News reported that the Japan run ended April 9 after 266 days, with Toho/Aniplex reporting ¥117,917,539,329 worldwide and 98,520,310 tickets sold. The report described that yen total as approximately US$740.49 million using its contemporaneous conversion basis. It is a historical report in yen, while the current trackers present dollar totals; the sources do not reconcile the difference.
- Reporting date: the September 2025 update, April 2026 Japan-run report, and October 2026 database listings are different snapshots.
- Geography: a Japan gross, a domestic-territory figure, an international subtotal, and a worldwide total are not the same measure.
- Currency: a yen gross and a dollar conversion depend on the exchange basis and date used.
- Database treatment: rereleases, market reporting, and update timing may contribute to variance, but the cited sources do not establish which factors explain it.
The April report and database figures should therefore be quoted with their sources and dates, not combined into one supposed final accounting. Crunchyroll News reported the Japan-run figures.

Was the $700 million prediction accurate?
Beebom’s 2025 update suggested the film could reach $700 million, particularly if a possible China release added business. It described a potential outcome, not a studio forecast or a formal model with disclosed assumptions. The later database listings are above that threshold, so the film ultimately exceeded the prediction as reflected in those trackers. The forecast’s China condition should not be mistaken for proof that a China release caused the result.
Other box-office milestones
North American opening
The Numbers lists a $70,611,098 North American opening weekend for the weekend dated September 12, 2025. It represents 51.6% of that tracker’s listed domestic cumulative total; its domestic “legs” metric is 1.94. These are domestic-performance measures, not worldwide opening figures.

IMAX performance
IMAX Corporation said on September 15, 2025, that the film earned $20 million worldwide in IMAX over its opening weekend, including a $13 million North American IMAX opening. Those format-specific figures are not the same as the film’s total box office. IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond said: “Anime has built a passionate global following across cultures, and this thriving genre is part of why IMAX has already delivered its biggest year ever for local language box office just nine months into 2025.” This is the company’s explanation of its broader performance, not an independent finding that anime alone caused it. IMAX Corporation published the figures and statement on September 15, 2025.
Release timeline and film details
The Numbers lists a July 18, 2025 release in Japan and North American wide and IMAX releases on September 12, 2025. It also lists a North American wide rerelease beginning March 6, 2026, and a video release date of July 28, 2026; its record does not specify the video format. The listing gives a 155-minute runtime and an R rating for bloody violence throughout, and identifies the film as Japanese digital animation based on a comic or graphic novel. The Numbers film record contains these details.

Was there an official production budget?
Beebom said its September 29, 2025 update did not have an official budget figure. An unsourced budget rumor should not be treated as fact or used to calculate the film’s profit. Box-office gross is also not the same as studio revenue or profit.
