What the “first 35 minutes” refers to
IGN’s July 12, 2024 preview report, “Deadpool & Wolverine: 30 Spoiler-Filled Details From the First 35 Minutes”, described footage shown before the movie’s release. It was a preview account of the opening portion of the film, not an official breakdown of a special version. The report’s scene-level observations should be understood as descriptions from that preview rather than a substitute for the finished film or an official production document.

The report’s title promises 30 details, but the useful through-line is the opening conflict: the TVA, Mr. Paradox’s proposal, the danger to Deadpool’s home timeline and Wade’s decision to find a Wolverine. The early story also uses MCU jokes, cameos and Easter eggs around that plot.
Why Deadpool goes looking for Wolverine
In the preview account, Deadpool encounters the Time Variance Authority and Mr. Paradox. Paradox presents an opportunity connected to the Sacred Timeline while explaining that Wade’s home timeline is in danger because its “anchor” has died. He intends to speed up that timeline’s end with a device called the Time Ripper.

Rather than accept Paradox’s plan, Deadpool sets out to find another Wolverine. The search takes him across realities, including a visit to the grave associated with Logan. These terms describe the film’s fictional plot mechanics; they are not real-world explanations of time or timelines.
What is established about the TVA and the characters
D23’s film coverage independently describes TVA agents crashing Wade’s birthday party and identifies Mr. Paradox and Cassandra Nova among the new characters in the MCU story. Matthew Macfadyen, who plays Paradox, described him to D23 as “a slightly angry, jangly, middle-management, upper apparatchik who’s ambitious for greater things.” The preview report supplies the more specific opening-act account of Paradox’s offer and the Time Ripper.

The broader premise is simpler than the timeline terminology may suggest: Disney describes Wade returning as Deadpool when his homeworld faces a threat, then having to persuade a reluctant Wolverine to help. Shawn Levy also told the Associated Press that the movie was built for entertainment without requiring viewers to arrive with prior research. The opening’s references add texture, but the central problem is understandable without treating MCU homework as a prerequisite.
Preview details versus what the released film confirms
A pre-release preview can report what appeared in the footage shown at that time, but it is not the same thing as an official confirmation of every interpretation or cameo identity. Later spoiler coverage of the released film names Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool and discusses Blade, Elektra and Gambit among returning characters, as well as the Void, Cassandra Nova and Deadpool variants. Those post-release identifications should not be confused with speculation about who might appear in the preview.

For a spoiler-free statement of the premise, Disney’s official synopsis is the clearest reference. For the opening-specific sequence of events, the IGN report is the relevant source—and its detailed observations remain attributed to that preview account.

Disney’s U.S. Disney+ catalog lists Deadpool & Wolverine as a 2024 release with a runtime of 2 hours 10 minutes and an R rating. Disney’s UK film page gives a July 25, 2024 release date and a 15 rating for that territory; ratings are market-specific and should not be treated as interchangeable. Disney also warns that flashing light sequences or patterns may affect photosensitive viewers.
