Deadpool & Wolverine connects Wade Wilson to Marvel Studios’ multiverse without erasing the Fox-era stories that came before it. Its TVA plot, Wolverine variant and legacy cameos answer some continuity questions while deliberately leaving the MCU’s future X-Men plans open.
1. Are Deadpool and Wolverine in the MCU now?
Deadpool is connected to Marvel Studios’ MCU framework through the TVA and the multiverse, but the film does not simply relocate his entire history into one seamless MCU timeline. He remains rooted in the Fox-derived continuity. The movie makes that continuity part of the story rather than pretending it never existed.

The Wolverine who joins him is from another reality. That distinction lets the film bring Hugh Jackman’s character into the multiverse story without changing what happened to the original Wolverine.
2. How did Deadpool get to Earth-616 to meet Happy Hogan?
Wade visits Earth-616 to interview with Happy Hogan about joining the Avengers. Happy rejects him. The TVA’s intervention comes afterward and sets the film’s cross-universe story in motion; the interview is not the same event as his later recruitment into that conflict.

3. How can Wolverine return after Logan?
The Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine is a variant: a different version from another reality, not the same man who died in Logan. That multiverse distinction allows the film to use Jackman’s Wolverine while leaving the earlier film’s death—and its emotional weight—intact.
4. Does Logan still count in the continuity?
Yes, the film treats Logan as meaningful Fox-era continuity, not an ending that must be undone. The events of Deadpool & Wolverine take place before the 2029 setting of Logan, but the story also uses multiverse rules rather than demanding that every film fit a perfectly linear timeline.

That approach leaves room for deliberate continuity jokes and some unresolved timeline questions. Its central answer is narrower: this film’s Wolverine is not the one whose story ended in Logan.
5. What is an anchor being?
In the TVA’s explanation, an anchor being is a person whose presence stabilizes a universe. The TVA says Wolverine filled that role for Wade’s home reality. The idea gives the plot a reason to treat his absence as urgent; it is a story mechanism, not a reason to reverse the death shown in Logan.

6. What did Cassandra Nova want?
Cassandra Nova’s endgame is to use the Time Ripper to destroy the multiverse. She uses the Void as part of her strategy and sends Deadpool variants to delay anyone who could stop her. The device and the threat it poses are the direct stakes of the film’s final conflict.
7. Why are Blade, Gambit and the other legacy characters in the film?
Their appearances work as a celebration of earlier Marvel adaptations and as a way to give attention to characters and performers whose stories did not receive satisfying conclusions. Director and producer Shawn Levy said, “They never really got an ending.” He also pointed to Channing Tatum, saying, “When you have people like Channing Tatum who had wanted to play Gambit for 10 years or more.”

The end material is primarily a retrospective gag and legacy montage, not a conventional teaser that sets out the next plot. It rewards viewers who recognize Fox-era Marvel history while leaving the next story open rather than spelling out a specific sequel direction.

9. When will the MCU X-Men arrive?
The film establishes that mutants and Fox-era characters can be part of Marvel Studios’ multiverse storytelling. It does not announce a specific MCU X-Men cast or release date. Until Marvel makes an official announcement, the timing and shape of an MCU X-Men rollout remain unresolved.
10. What is the film saying about Marvel’s past and future?
The team-up looks backward as well as forward: it acknowledges the earlier Marvel films and performers that helped build the screen history of these characters, while giving Deadpool a route into Marvel Studios’ larger framework. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige called the project a “full circle moment” and said, “The secret to integrating Deadpool into the Disney company is to let Deadpool be Deadpool.” The film’s method is therefore less about sanding away his Fox-era identity than about making that identity part of the multiverse story.
