De De Pyaar De 2 is worth watching if you enjoy a crowded Hindi family comedy led by a strong ensemble; it is less convincing if you want brisk pacing or a carefully developed romance. The sequel’s clash between Ashish’s age-gap relationship with Ayesha and her family’s expectations supplies plenty of comic friction, but the same abundance can weigh down its emotional momentum.
What is De De Pyaar De 2 about?
Released in Hindi cinemas on 14 November 2025, the film follows Ashish as he visits Ayesha’s family home. Their age-gap romance now faces the test of her family’s approval, framed by Yash Raj Films International as a “Pyaar vs Parivaar” clash. The premise shifts the relationship comedy into an ensemble family setting, with the household’s reactions driving much of the conflict.
Anshul Sharma directs, with a screenplay by Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan; Ranjan is also credited with the story. The cast includes Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Rakul Preet Singh and Meezaan Jafri. The BBFC lists an approximate runtime of 146 minutes, while Rotten Tomatoes lists 2 hours 30 minutes, so expect a film running about 146–150 minutes depending on the listing.
Does the sequel’s comedy and cast work?
The main pleasure is the ensemble’s capacity for friction: a relationship brought into a family setting naturally invites competing loyalties, awkward introductions and escalating reactions. Positive critic excerpts collected by BookMyShow praise the familiarity of the material and the mix of humor, chaos and family drama. R. Madhavan and Rakul Preet Singh are particular points of interest in the critical discussion of the performances.

But the comedy does not land consistently for everyone. Some reviewers found the film short on laughs or uneven in tone, while others saw its warm, familiar ingredients as part of its appeal. The difference is less about whether the film has comic situations than whether those situations feel sharp enough to justify the time spent on them.
How does the film handle its central romance?
The age-gap relationship gives the family comedy a more serious question: how much weight does the film give Ayesha’s own choices as her family debates the match? That emotional logic is one of the dividing lines in the response. Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express wrote that it “Has neither substantial emotional logic nor enough laughs” in a review dated 15 November 2025. Anuj Kumar of The Hindu, reviewing it on 25 November 2025, questioned how long the film takes to reach its point, noting that selling an older-younger romance remains difficult.

Those criticisms point to a tension in the premise. Family resistance can generate comic spectacle, but if the film lingers on the spectacle without making the couple’s choices feel emotionally persuasive, the conflict risks seeming prolonged rather than consequential. Viewers who chiefly want a light, busy family comedy may be more forgiving than those looking for a nuanced treatment of agency and age-gap relationships.
What are critics and audiences saying?
Reception is mixed, and aggregator scores are changing snapshots rather than fixed measures of quality. When accessed on 8 October 2026, Rotten Tomatoes showed a 55% Tomatometer from 11 reviews and an 80% Popcornmeter from more than 50 verified ratings. Bollywood.com showed a 69% MastScore from 13 reviews at the same access point. These small samples offer a rough map of divided reactions, not a definitive verdict.

Who is likely to enjoy it?
- Try it if: you like ensemble Hindi comedies, family clashes, familiar sequel dynamics and a mix of romance and domestic chaos.
- Temper expectations if: pacing, tonal consistency and emotional depth matter more to you than a large cast and a steady flow of comic conflict.
- Consider another pick if: you want a concise romance or a tightly controlled comedy; the film runs roughly two and a half hours.
