The DC Animated Movie Universe watch order is the 15-film release order below: begin with Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox and finish with Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. The films form one shared continuity, so release order is preferable to trying to rearrange them chronologically.
The complete DC Animated Movie Universe watch order
The DC Animated Movie Universe (DCAMU) is a connected 15-film continuity that begins with Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013) and ends with Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020). For a first viewing, watch the films in release order below—not in the order of the fictional events.
If you want to start with a physical copy, search for Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox Blu-ray. It is the opening film and the story that establishes the continuity’s altered timeline.

Why release order is the best order
The DCAMU was built as an evolving shared story. Although most of the films have self-contained plots, the sequence develops recurring relationships, team memberships, character histories, and consequences from one entry to the next. Watching in release order lets those changes arrive as intended and prevents later films from assuming knowledge that has not yet been introduced.

Some stories take place alongside or after events in other films, but rearranging them can weaken character reveals and make continuity callbacks arrive too early.
What each film contributes
- Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox: The continuity’s starting point. Barry Allen’s actions create the timeline in which the DCAMU’s shared history unfolds.
- Justice League: War: Establishes the early Justice League lineup and the group’s first major shared conflict in the new continuity.
- Son of Batman: Shifts focus toward Batman, Damian Wayne, and the difficult relationship between them.
- Justice League: Throne of Atlantis: Expands the world with Aquaman and Atlantis while continuing the Justice League’s development.
- Batman vs. Robin: Continues the Batman-and-Damian storyline and examines the competing influences shaping Robin.
- Batman: Bad Blood: Broadens the Bat-family corner of the universe and changes the team’s status quo.
- Justice League vs. Teen Titans: Introduces a stronger connection between the Justice League and the younger Titans team.
- Justice League Dark: Brings supernatural threats and characters such as John Constantine into the central continuity.
- Teen Titans: The Judas Contract: Follows the Titans and builds on their relationships after their introduction in the previous film.
- Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay: Moves attention to the Suicide Squad while remaining part of the same larger universe.
- The Death of Superman: Begins the DCAMU’s major Superman storyline and sets up the film that follows.
- Reign of the Supermen: Directly continues the Superman story. Watch it immediately after The Death of Superman for the intended two-film arc.
- Batman: Hush: Returns to Batman for a mystery involving his allies and enemies within the established continuity.
- Wonder Woman: Bloodlines: Gives Wonder Woman a more central solo story while retaining connections to the shared universe.
- Justice League Dark: Apokolips War: The continuity’s concluding feature and the endpoint of the 15-film watch order.
Optional follow-up: Constantine: The House of Mystery
After finishing Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, you can watch DC Showcase: Constantine – The House of Mystery as an optional coda. DC classifies it as part of the DC Showcase short line rather than as one of the 15 DCAMU feature films, but its story follows Constantine after the events of Apokolips War.
#1 Best Overall
That makes the viewing recommendation straightforward:
- Official DCAMU feature-film order: the 15 films listed above.
- Optional continuity-adjacent coda: Constantine: The House of Mystery.
Do not count the Constantine short as film number 16 in the official DCAMU list.

The name “DC animated universe” is sometimes used loosely for several unrelated continuities. The DCAMU is not the same as:
Rank #2
- Factory sealed DVD
- The DCAU: The older continuity associated with animated series including Batman: The Animated Series. Its characters, history, and continuity are separate from the 15-film DCAMU.
- The Tomorrowverse: A later shared animated universe created after the DCAMU timeline was reset following Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. Its films should not be added to this list.
- The wider DC Animated Movie catalog: Warner Bros. has released many animated DC films, including stand-alone stories and films belonging to other continuities. A film featuring Batman, Superman, or the Justice League is not automatically a DCAMU film.
The practical test is continuity, not simply character or distributor. Once you finish Apokolips War, stop if your goal is specifically to complete the DCAMU.
Viewing notes and content warning
These films are interconnected but individually accessible. You can understand the basic plot of many entries without having seen every predecessor, but the emotional impact and continuity payoff are stronger when the films are watched sequentially.
The overall tone is darker than all-ages Saturday-morning animation. Across the series, expect violent action, horror elements, tragic deaths, war imagery, and mature themes. Parents and younger viewers should check the rating and local content information for each particular title rather than assuming that an animated film is suitable for children.

Buying or collecting the films
Collectors may prefer individual Blu-ray or DVD releases, or a broader DC animated-movie collection. Check the included-title list before buying: a general collection of DC animated films is not necessarily a complete 15-film DCAMU set. The available commercial collection evidence identifies a broader 30-film DC animated-movie collection, not a verified box set containing every DCAMU entry.
Related graphic novels, source-comic editions, and collector releases can also be worthwhile supplemental purchases, but they are not required to follow the films and should not be treated as part of the official watch order.
Quick checklist
- Start with Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.
- Watch all 15 films in the numbered release order.
- Watch The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen consecutively.
- End the feature-film run with Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.
- Add Constantine: The House of Mystery only as an optional coda.
- Do not mix in DCAU, Tomorrowverse, or unrelated DC animated films.
- Check title-by-title ratings and local availability before planning a family viewing.
