Counterattack (Spanish title: Contraataque) is a 2025 Mexican action thriller about an Army special forces team drawn into a cartel’s violence after rescuing two women. Netflix’s US release date was February 28, 2025; availability and language options depend on where you watch.
What is Counterattack about?
Captain Armando Guerrero leads the Murciélagos, a Mexican Army Special Forces unit. After two women encounter a mass grave in the countryside and are kidnapped, Guerrero and his team rescue them. The rescue makes the soldiers targets of cartel leader Josefo “The Stinger” Urías, and Guerrero’s knowledge of the burial site raises the stakes. Netflix places the story in Mexico near the US border but does not name a city or state. Netflix Tudum’s overview supplies the expanded setup; Netflix Media Center also summarizes the rescue and ensuing ambush.
