Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 makes the Sekai Taikai feel as punishing for its characters as it is for the viewer: the Barcelona tournament raises the stakes and delivers expressive fights, but five episodes have to carry so many rivalries, revelations, and personal conflicts that the story often feels crowded. The action gives the arc real force; the pacing rarely gives its consequences enough room.
Spoiler scope: The first sections discuss the premise and structure without revealing the ending. The final section contains major spoilers, including the Part 2 cliffhanger.
What Season 6 Part 2 covers
Cobra Kai’s sixth and final season is a 15-episode season released in three batches. Part 2 consists of episodes 6–10, which arrived on November 15, 2024. It follows the end of Part 1, when Tory joins Cobra Kai, and takes Miyagi-Do from the familiar Valley to Barcelona for the international Sekai Taikai. Netflix’s Season 6 guide confirms the season’s format and release schedule.
The move abroad is more than a change of scenery in concept. As co-creator Hayden Schlossberg told Netflix Tudum, “The first thing that you’re going to notice is we’re not in the Valley anymore.” Barcelona gives the competition a wider frame: Miyagi-Do is no longer measuring itself against familiar local rivals, but against dojos arriving with their own identities and ambitions.

Does Barcelona make the tournament feel bigger?
It does, at least initially. The Sekai Taikai creates a useful contrast with the earlier All Valley tournaments: the familiar students have to establish themselves in a much larger arena, surrounded by opponents they cannot dismiss as another version of the same local feud. The new scale promises a fresh test of what Miyagi-Do stands for.
But a larger tournament also demands more narrative bookkeeping. The arc keeps the competition moving while tracking dojo tensions, Daniel and Johnny’s differences, character histories, and conflicts among the rival senseis. It has plenty to advance; what it lacks is enough breathing room between advances. The tournament’s scale adds pressure, but it also gives the season more threads to service at once.

Why the story arc feels overstuffed
The difficulty is not that any one strand is inherently out of place. The problem is accumulation. A betrayal, a search tied to Mr. Miyagi’s past, a rival-teams elimination match, and a revelation that unsettles Daniel all compete for attention alongside the tournament and the show’s ongoing relationship conflicts. The Netflix episode guide lays out just how much the five episodes have to carry.
As a result, some developments register more as fresh pressure than as fully explored turning points. A revelation can complicate a character’s understanding of the past, but the competition is already demanding the next reaction, the next matchup, and the next crisis. The show’s long-running habit of connecting karate to emotional grievances still gives the story a clear organizing idea; in this stretch, however, the number of grievances makes it harder to see which ones deserve the most attention.

That density makes the arc feel unforgiving in a dramatic sense as well as a competitive one. Characters get little time to settle after a setback before another rivalry or revelation reframes the situation. Momentum is rarely in short supply, but reflection is.
Do the fights serve the characters?
Often, yes. The fights are the strongest argument for the crowded structure: they are not simply pauses for spectacle. The action can express anger and hurt while changing the tournament’s direction, bringing the characters’ emotional conflicts into the physical contest. In a series built around karate as both discipline and outlet, that connection matters.

A contemporaneous Geeks + Gamers review likewise praised the fight sequences and described the story as gearing up for a large finish, “for better or worse.” That is a useful distinction. The fights can work on their own terms even when the overall arc is overburdened; energetic action does not automatically give every surrounding plot thread enough space to land.

For viewers invested in Miyagi-Do, Cobra Kai, and the relationships the series has built across six seasons, Part 2 is worth watching. The Barcelona setting expands the competition, the fights put emotional conflict on display, and the closing escalation gives the batch a consequential endpoint. It is also a demanding watch: the story moves quickly through a substantial stack of tournament and character developments, and its biggest moments can feel crowded rather than carefully staged.

Rotten Tomatoes’ live Season 6 page showed a 91% Tomatometer from 47 reviews and an 80% Popcornmeter from more than 500 ratings when accessed in 2026. Those are full-season figures, not ratings for Part 2, and the page can change. They offer context for the season’s reception, not a score for these five episodes.
Spoilers: does the cliffhanger earn its scale?
Major spoilers for the Part 2 finale: after a cheap shot in the semifinals, the conflict erupts into a tournament-wide brawl. A student dies in the melee, a fatal turn confirmed in Netflix’s Season 6 overview.
The escalation is designed to break the tournament’s usual boundaries: students and senseis are caught up in the same violence, with the stakes and skill level heightened. TheWrap reported that the showrunners wanted the ending to feel like the “Empire Strikes Back” of the story, and described the melee as a distinctive clash involving both students and senseis. That stated ambition explains the scale, but scale alone does not make the moment feel earned.
The cheap shot gives the brawl a clear trigger, and the death makes it impossible to treat the melee as another harmless round of karate chaos. Yet the finale’s sudden shift from tournament rivalry to catastrophe is so large that it risks overwhelming the character conflicts that led into it. The cliffhanger is effective as a shock and a rupture; whether it feels proportionate is harder to answer when the arc has already been moving at such a relentless pace. It lands less as a carefully prepared culmination than as an abrupt demand to imagine consequences on a new level.
