Spoilers for the Season 6 Part 2 finale below.
In the creators’ account, Season 6 Part 2 brings Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai into the Sekai Taikai in Barcelona, where the Iron Dragons arrive as a formidable rival team. Sensei Wolf leads the dojo, backed by Terry Silver. The tournament’s escalating violence culminates in Kwon’s death, an event co-creator Josh Heald said puts the safety and meaning of competitive karate in question.
Who are the Iron Dragons?
The Iron Dragons are a competing dojo at the Sekai Taikai, led by Sensei Wolf, played by Lewis Tan. The team includes Zara, played by Rayna Vallandingham, and Axel, played by Patrick Luwis. In a November 12, 2024 interview with Showbiz Junkies, co-creator Jon Hurwitz said martial-arts experience was an advantage in casting Vallandingham, while Luwis brought sports and dance experience and learned quickly with the martial-arts team.
Why the team feels like a serious rival
Their impact comes from both the characters and the performers’ abilities. The creators describe Wolf’s team as a high-level competitor, not simply a new uniformed opponent. The pre-finale interview frames the Iron Dragons as one of the forces that makes the Sekai Taikai feel larger and less familiar than the series’ All-Valley tournaments.
What is the Sekai Taikai tournament like?
The creators wanted the international tournament to break from the predictable structure of a standard bracket. Hurwitz described events involving tag-ins, simultaneous fighting and elevated balance challenges, designed to make the action less predictable and more closely connected to character conflicts. Writers, performers, stunt staff, production and editors worked together on the events, according to the interview.

The creators also considered using a wider range of locations, but production had to work within the constraints of a city and venue. The result is a tournament built to feel distinct through its events and staging, rather than simply through the presence of international teams.
Does Kreese return, and why is Terry Silver involved?
Yes. The Part 2 story brings John Kreese back into the conflict surrounding the tournament. The post-finale TVLine interview focuses on how the Sekai Taikai’s competing agendas collide, including Kreese’s presence and Silver’s return.

Hurwitz described Silver’s re-emergence as planned after his defeat in Season 5. In the show’s plot, Silver uses his wealth to bring Wolf’s defending-champion team into the competition, aiming to humiliate Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do on the world stage. That makes the Iron Dragons more than a sporting obstacle: their entry is part of Silver’s broader campaign against the established dojos.
What happens in the Part 2 finale?
At the Sekai Taikai, tensions erupt into a melee. Kwon finds Kreese’s missing eunjangdo, takes it, and is fatally impaled after being kicked down. TVLine’s November 16, 2024 interview identifies Kwon as dead.

Heald said the death changes the stakes beyond who wins the tournament: “It throws the whole idea of competitive karate and the safety of that into question, and whether or not anyone’s intentions, good, bad or otherwise, are to blame for what’s happened.” He said the event would reverberate through the karate community and deeply inform the series’ endgame.
What does Silver’s record reveal about Miyagi?
Silver gives Daniel a record suggesting that Miyagi killed an opponent at an earlier Sekai Taikai. Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg explained that the box and its objects point toward a more complicated life than Daniel understood. He also indicated that the final episodes would answer some questions while leaving others open; the revelation should not be taken as a promise that every mystery about Miyagi will be resolved.
