The 2024 CMT Music Awards aired live on Sunday, April 7, from Austin’s Moody Center. Kelsea Ballerini hosted the three-hour CBS broadcast, which featured performances from Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson and other country artists. Jelly Roll took home three awards, including Video of the Year for “Need a Favor.”
When and where did the 2024 CMT Music Awards air?
The ceremony took place at Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, April 7, 2024. It aired live on CBS from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with a delayed broadcast in the Pacific time zone. Paramount’s original event announcement said Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers could stream the show live and on demand; Paramount+ Essential subscribers could watch it on demand the following day. Those were the stated streaming terms for the 2024 telecast, not a claim about current availability.
Who hosted, and who performed?
Kelsea Ballerini returned as host. The announced performers included Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, Sam Hunt, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Old Dominion, Parker McCollum, Brittney Spencer, Jordan Davis, NEEDTOBREATHE and Trisha Yearwood.
The program also paired artists for collaborative performances: Parker McCollum with Brittney Spencer, and Old Dominion with Megan Moroney. The Associated Press recap noted a NEEDTOBREATHE and Jordan Davis collaborative segment. A pre-show special edition of CMT’s weekend countdown was hosted from Moody Center by Cody Alan, Carissa Culiner and Marley Sherwood.

How did fan voting work?
Fans chose the winners. Voting in nine categories ran from the nomination announcement through April 1, 2024. Video of the Year used a longer process: 16 initial acts were narrowed to six finalists announced April 1, then to three finalists on show day. The final vote took place on social media during the live broadcast.
