“Almost Unfamous,” the July 10, 2024 premiere of Claim to Fame season 3, sends Bianca Roberts home after she guesses that Shane is related to Forest Whitaker. Her elimination reveals that her aunt is Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts. The title’s “meltdown” belongs to a contestant from the previous season: Bianca’s exit is calm by comparison.
Who was eliminated on Claim to Fame season 3, episode 1?
Bianca Roberts was the first contestant eliminated from season 3. In “Almost Unfamous,” the premiere that aired Wednesday, July 10, 2024, a talent-show challenge put contestants at risk, and a group vote made Bianca the first guesser. She guessed that Shane was related to actor Forest Whitaker. She was wrong, and the reveal identified Robin Roberts as her aunt. TV Guide’s episode listing gives the episode title and challenge premise; TV Insider’s interview with Bianca and Parade’s recap report the guess and reveal.
How the premiere set up the first guess-off
The contestants introduced themselves through the show’s “two truths and a lie” descriptions of their celebrity relatives, then tried to interpret one another and the clue wall. The introductions were also an early game of misdirection. Miguel said he was using a fake name to make himself seem more Spanish than he is; Gracie Lou adopted a persona meant to suggest a connection to a country singer. Those tactics offered impressions, not proof, while the cast was still trying to work out which details mattered.
The opening talent show determined who would be vulnerable to the first elimination. Bianca and Miguel ended up in the bottom two, after which the group chose Bianca to guess. Miguel actively campaigned against being selected; Bianca seemed more relaxed about the vote. Her composure did not mean she had a strong theory: she later told TV Insider she was “throwing a Hail Mary” because the early evidence felt too thin to identify anyone confidently.

Why Bianca guessed Shane—and what the guess got wrong
Bianca’s guess was that Shane’s celebrity relative was Forest Whitaker. The guess-off made the decision consequential: a wrong identity guess meant elimination. When the answer was revealed, Bianca learned that her own celebrity connection—Robin Roberts—was now public. The episode’s central reversal is therefore less a dramatic confrontation than a first-round gamble made before the contestants had accumulated much usable evidence.
The show’s format depends on contestants piecing together clues while withholding their own family connections. Executive producer Eric Detwiler told TV Insider that hosts Kevin and Franklin are also kept unaware of the players’ identities and relatives so they can try to solve the puzzle alongside viewers. The premise is a contest in concealment and deduction, not a guarantee that every early guess will rest on a clear trail of clues.

Was Bianca’s exit a meltdown?
No. Bianca left by hugging the other contestants, according to reality blurred’s recap. She said afterward that she had not felt confident and was making a Hail Mary guess. That makes the premiere’s “meltdown” framing easy to misplace: the conspicuous meltdown associated with a Claim to Fame premiere was Carly Reeves’s elimination in season 2, not Bianca’s in season 3. TV Insider’s pre-premiere production interview recalls Carly’s intense reaction, while this episode’s exit is comparatively composed.

The episode ends with Miguel performing a spoon trick and Dedrick making a “Mr. Jackson” remark. Those moments invite viewers to speculate about Dedrick’s celebrity relative, possibly Michael Jackson, but the premiere does not confirm that identity. They are clues to consider, not a reveal to treat as settled.
