Cineplex’s $5 Weekend is over. The promotion ran September 5–6, 2026, and Cineplex’s official page now says, “This promotion has ended.” The $5 prices applied to general-admission tickets and small popcorn bags purchased at the theatre, before tax; online tickets could cost more.
What Cineplex’s $5 Weekend included
Cineplex announced the offer on August 31, 2026. It covered showtimes on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6. Tickets went on sale September 2. The offer has expired, so these prices are historical, not currently available. Cineplex’s promotion page confirms the event ended. [c001]
At the theatre, general-admission tickets cost $5 each and small bags of popcorn cost $5 each, plus tax. These were separate prices: buying both meant paying for each item, with applicable tax. [c002]
Why an online ticket could cost more
The $5 ticket price applied to in-theatre purchases. Cineplex listed online general-admission tickets at up to $6.50 each plus tax, including an online booking fee of up to $1.50. That was the maximum stated online price, not a separate popcorn price. [c002]
