Premium-experience tickets moved the other way: they now earn 6 points per eligible dollar, up from 5. Online booking fees earn at the same rate as the ticket. These are Cineplex rates, not a universal Scene+ rate for every partner.
What changed on May 13, 2026?
Cineplex’s revised earn rates took effect May 13, 2026. The comparison below reflects Cineplex’s published old and new rates; the rate applies to eligible spend, not taxes or gratuities.

Which tickets count as premium?
Cineplex lists IMAX, VIP, 3D, UltraAVX, 4DX, D-BOX, ScreenX, RealD 3D, Clubhouse and Event Cinema as premium experiences. The regular-ticket categories it identifies include Stars & Strollers, Event Cinema, Sensory Friendly and Recliner seating.

Event Cinema appears in both lists, so the label alone may not tell you which rate applies to a particular purchase. Offers, promotions, upgrades or other transactions can have a different rate; Cineplex says the applicable rate is disclosed with the offer. Check the rate shown for your specific ticket rather than assuming every screening with a particular label earns the same amount.
How to estimate the points on a purchase
Apply the applicable rate to eligible pre-tax spend in each category. For example, a regular ticket uses the 3-point rate; a qualifying premium ticket uses the 6-point rate. If a purchase includes items with different rates, calculate each eligible portion separately. Taxes and gratuities do not earn points, and Cineplex’s notice says qualifying spend is rounded to the nearest whole point.

Booking fees follow the ticket rate, so a fee attached to a premium ticket earns at the premium rate, while a fee attached to a regular ticket earns at the regular rate. A promotion may specify a different rate, so use its terms when they apply.
What are Scene+ points worth at Cineplex?
Cineplex currently allows 100 Scene+ points to be redeemed for $1 toward movie tickets, food or drinks. Scene+ says points usually appear within 48 hours, although promotional points may take longer. How do The Rec Room and Playdium differ?
The Cineplex ticket rates do not apply across all Scene+ partner venues. Scene+ help information lists separate rates for The Rec Room and Playdium: 1 point per dollar on eligible food, drinks, games and entertainment purchases. It describes 500 points for $5 toward food, drinks or game credits at The Rec Room, and 500 points for $5 toward eligible Playdium purchases. Check the relevant venue’s terms before applying a Cineplex rate elsewhere.

Cineplex’s CineClub update took effect July 15, 2026. The published prices are $10.99 per month or $120.89 annually, and Everyday Member-Priced Tickets are $10.99. Existing annual and gifted members keep the former $9.99 member-ticket price until renewal. CineClub ticket credits and member-priced tickets earn at the standard Scene+ rate in effect when purchased.

Cineplex says other listed benefits, including 20% off food and drinks and no online booking fees, did not change. It also announced a one-time top-up of 20 points per unused credit for eligible unused credits as of July 15, to be issued by August 15, 2026. That date has passed, but the published update does not confirm whether a particular member’s account received the points. Check your account or transaction record for account-specific posting details. The terms are on Cineplex’s CineClub program update page.

What to check before you buy
- Confirm whether the ticket is classified as regular or premium for that transaction.
- Calculate points on eligible pre-tax spend, excluding taxes and gratuities.
- Check the offer terms for a different rate or promotion-specific exception.
- For a CineClub decision, consider the membership price alongside expected ticket use, applicable ticket costs, concession discount and booking-fee benefit—not points alone.
