Steven Knight, the series creator, wrote the film, and Tom Harper directed it. They do not show that it broke a cinema record or exceeded a defined pre-release audience forecast: no box-office total or expectation benchmark is established by the cited reports. Netflix’s weekly Top 10 coverage reported the 19.4 million figure, while its first-half viewing report recorded 63.9 million. The latter report’s 97 billion hours watched refers to Netflix overall, not to this film.
What did Murphy and Steven Knight say about the return?
Murphy told Netflix, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,” and described the film as “one for the fans.” Knight called it “an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story,” adding, “No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.” Those comments frame the film as a continuation for the established audience rather than a standalone retelling of the series.
What should viewers know about its content?
For the UK classification, the BBFC lists strong language, violence and injury detail. Its expanded content advice also notes shootings, stabbings, heavy beatings and wartime air raids, as well as brief breast nudity.
