Their children are Audrey and Rusty; Clark’s parents are Nora and Clark Griswold Sr., while Ellen’s parents are Art and Francis Smith. Cousin Eddie is identified as Clark’s cousin, but the available sources do not establish his precise branch of the family.
The Griswold family tree
This map separates the two parental branches and shows the immediate household. Eddie and the other older relatives are listed separately because their exact places on the tree are not established by the cited records.
- Clark’s parents: Nora Griswold and Clark Griswold Sr. → Clark Griswold
- Ellen’s parents: Art Smith and Francis Smith → Ellen Griswold
- Clark and Ellen’s children: Audrey Griswold and Rusty Griswold
- Extended visitors: Cousin Eddie and his family; Aunt Bethany and Uncle Lewis, whose precise branches are unspecified.
AFI’s catalog identifies both sets of parents, and Apple TV’s film listing identifies Clark, Ellen, Audrey, and Rusty as the central household. The film brings the two parental couples together for the holiday visit. AFI Catalog · Apple TV
Who are Clark Griswold’s parents?
Clark’s parents are Nora Griswold and Clark Griswold Sr. AFI’s synopsis names them as Clark’s parents and describes them visiting alongside Ellen’s parents. AFI Catalog

Who are Ellen Griswold’s parents?
Ellen’s parents are Art and Francis Smith. AFI names the couple in its synopsis; its cast listing uses the spelling “Francis,” while the film’s maternal-grandmother name is also rendered as “Frances” in some listings. The variation is not a basis for a different family relationship. AFI Catalog
How is Cousin Eddie related to Clark?
Apple TV describes Eddie as Clark’s cousin and says Eddie arrives with his family in their camper. That supports calling him Clark’s cousin, but does not specify which side of Clark’s family he belongs to or the exact cousin relationship. Eddie’s wife and children are part of the visiting family, not a branch that can be placed more precisely from that synopsis. Apple TV

Where do Aunt Bethany and Uncle Lewis fit?
AFI’s cast listing includes Aunt Bethany and Uncle Lewis, but its catalog record does not identify the family branch connecting either character to Clark. They can be described as older-generation relatives who attend the gathering; assigning them a specific side of the family would go beyond what that record establishes. AFI Catalog
