What Adele said about taking a break
At the end of her ten-show Munich run on August 31, 2024, Adele told the audience: “After that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time and I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break.” She was referring to the ten Las Vegas dates she still had to perform. The remarks were reported by the Los Angeles Times and Pitchfork.

She also said she had enjoyed performing for nearly three years, described the residency as probably the longest run she would do, and added: “It has been amazing. I just need a rest.” She said she had spent the previous seven years building a new life and wanted to live it.
What she had said about new music
In July 2024, before the Munich announcement, Adele told German broadcaster ZDF: “I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.” The Los Angeles Times reported those comments. They described her plans at that time; they were not a declaration that she was retiring permanently.
