TMZ identified Connor as a wealthy financier, a friend of both Costner and Baumgartner, and a neighbor of the Costner family near Carpinteria, California. The available reporting does not establish the precise name of the resort, whether the two shared accommodations, or what their private relationship was during the trip. Those details should not be inferred from photographs alone.
What did Christine Baumgartner say about Josh Connor?
During divorce-court testimony on August 31, 2023, Baumgartner denied that Connor was her boyfriend, according to entertainment reports. Those reports also said she described receiving a $20,000 loan from Connor and returning $10,000.
That testimony is important context, but it does not independently settle the question of whether the two were romantically involved at the time. It is a reported account of what Baumgartner said in court, not a judicial finding that they were—or were not—a couple.

Who is Josh Connor?
Connor is an investment executive whose career is focused on transportation and infrastructure, rather than entertainment. Oaktree’s published professional materials identify him as a managing director and co-portfolio manager of the firm’s Infrastructure Investing strategy, specializing in transportation.
Oaktree’s biography says Connor joined the firm in 2017 after serving as a strategic adviser to its infrastructure team. It also says he founded Connor Capital SB and previously worked at Barclays and Morgan Stanley. The biography identifies his undergraduate degree as economics from Williams College.
Connor has also held corporate board positions. Oaktree’s materials identify him as a director of Frontier Airlines and Copa Holdings, and Copa Holdings’ corporate board document listed Josh Connor as a director as of March 31, 2025. Describing him as a financier, investment executive, or transportation-infrastructure investor is more precise than treating him as a celebrity figure.

How Kevin Costner’s divorce fits into the story
The Hawaii sighting took place during a contentious divorce process between Costner and Baumgartner. The Associated Press reported that the couple began dating in 1998, married in 2004, and later ended their marriage through divorce. Entertainment coverage at the time also focused on disagreements involving child support and the couple’s prenuptial agreement.
It is more accurate to say that the parties were in divorce proceedings when the Hawaii photographs were taken and that the divorce was finalized later. Filing dates, settlement developments, and finalization dates have sometimes been conflated in entertainment coverage.

The available sources do not establish that Costner publicly accused Baumgartner and Connor of having an affair. The photographs and the surrounding divorce dispute generated speculation, but speculation should not be presented as a proven allegation. The original headline referred to a July 2023 sighting and described Baumgartner as Kevin Costner’s estranged wife. It should not be treated as breaking news. As of the latest research available for this article—August 13, 2026—the latest located reports say Baumgartner and Connor married in October 2025.
Because entertainment reporting can change and public appearances may have occurred after those reports, current relationship, employment, and board-status claims should be rechecked before republication. The dated chronology remains the clearest way to explain how a disputed Hawaii sighting was followed by increasingly public milestones.
