Notable fishnet looks span a structured mini dress, winter streetwear and television outfits. The examples below are dated and reported instances—not proof that fishnets are a defining celebrity trend today. One often-discussed look also comes with an important correction from the wearer: Jill Biden said her stockings were not fishnets.
How celebrities style fishnet tights
Fishnet can read as a strong focal point or a small textural detail, depending on the outfit around it. These reported examples show different ways celebrities have worn or discussed the hosiery.
Victoria Beckham: fishnets with a tailored mini dress
For a London dinner in May 2023, British Vogue reported that Victoria Beckham wore black fishnet tights with a mini blazer dress from her brand’s forthcoming autumn/winter 2023 collection. Black heels and a black chain clutch kept the look within a restrained palette; Vogue said the dress was styled almost as it had appeared on the runway. Read British Vogue’s report.
Dua Lipa: a contrast with winter outerwear
Vogue described Dua Lipa wearing fishnet stockings with a chunky white puffer jacket in snowy London weather. The contrast between substantial outerwear and visible hosiery is the styling point; fishnets should not be mistaken for cold-weather insulation. Read Vogue’s report.

Dorit Kemsley: fishnet as a visible layer
Bravo’s 2019 coverage of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills described Dorit Kemsley wearing fishnet beneath a hot-pink off-shoulder dress in one television look, and a sheer all-fishnet top over a black bandeau in another. The report also noted fishnet in her Beverly Beach label. These are examples from television styling, not specifications for a particular hosiery product. See Bravo’s coverage.
Julia Roberts: a personal hosiery preference
In a September 2017 W Magazine interview, Julia Roberts answered a question about hosiery by saying, “Fit and quality.” Asked which Calzedonia pieces she wore, she said she wore the brand’s classic fishnet stocking “quite a bit.” This is Roberts’s personal account, not an independent assessment of the product. Lily Allen: a floral variation
In a 2026 Who What Wear interview connected to her Calzedonia partnership, Lily Allen described a floral fishnet style from the collection as a vintage-inspired, retro-meets-modern take. Her comments concern that particular style and partnership; they do not establish how widely the design is worn. Read Who What Wear’s interview.
Other street-style combinations
Vogue’s 2016 street-style feature showed fishnets with a bohemian dress or slip, denim short shorts and a Moschino T-shirt dress. It named Vera van Erp, Eleonora Carisi and Alice Metza among the examples, and also mentioned model Teddy Quinlivan alongside a man wearing black short shorts and fishnets. Was Jill Biden wearing fishnet tights?
Not according to Jill Biden. After her black stockings were widely described as fishnet or lace, she told Vogue: “And they weren’t fishnets. They weren’t lace. They were very pretty stockings.” The Independent reported her clarification in June 2021. It is a useful reminder that patterned or textured hosiery is not necessarily fishnet, even when headlines or public discussion use that label. Read The Independent’s account.

- For more varied pairings: Vogue’s older street-style examples combined fishnets with dresses, slips, shorts and a T-shirt dress.
The reports identify styling context, but generally do not establish the exact tights or brand worn by the celebrities. Roberts’s and Allen’s comments name Calzedonia, but their statements are not confirmation that the other people in these examples wore that brand.
