The seven-day trial period is an account-access window—not proof that one YouTube stream will run for seven days, nor a guarantee of an unlimited session. Castr’s trial documentation also lists 5 GB of bandwidth for embeddable-player use and 1 GB of video storage; those figures should not be treated as YouTube audience or runtime limits.
What Castr’s free trial includes
Castr’s Help Center article, “Castr 7-Days Trial Limitations” (April 9, 2024), describes a seven-day trial for new accounts, with 5 GB of bandwidth for embeddable-player use and 1 GB of video storage (Castr Help Center). The bandwidth allowance is framed around streaming to a website using Castr’s embeddable player. It is not a published allowance for YouTube’s own delivery to viewers.
Castr’s “Getting Started with Castr” guide, dated July 2, 2026, says dashboard access ends after the seven-day trial unless the user subscribes (Castr Help Center). That account deadline and an individual live-session limit are different things.
Does the trial stop a continuous YouTube live stream after seven days?
Castr’s published trial article does not state a separate maximum duration for an ordinary live stream to YouTube. The reviewed documentation therefore does not establish that such a stream automatically stops at seven days. It also does not guarantee an unlimited YouTube session or confirm that every trial account has the destination access needed for a particular setup.

If an uninterrupted long-duration broadcast depends on the trial, ask Castr support to confirm in writing that your account can send to YouTube and that the planned session duration is supported. The current onboarding guide points users to the trial-limit article but does not fill in those specific details.
Does the 5 GB bandwidth allowance apply to YouTube viewers?
The published 5 GB trial allowance concerns Castr’s embeddable player, not a stated limit on YouTube viewers watching a stream on YouTube. Do not divide 5 GB by a guessed bitrate to calculate a YouTube runtime or audience cap.

For website-player delivery, Castr’s bandwidth calculator estimates that at 6 Mbps, each viewer uses roughly 2.6 GB per hour. The calculator uses bitrate, concurrent viewers, and duration, and says its estimate does not account for other stream, storage, feature, or plan restrictions (Castr bandwidth calculator). Use that figure only as a planning estimate for player bandwidth—not as a YouTube-specific rule.
Live input and TV Playout are different workflows
Live camera or encoder stream to YouTube
This is a live input sent through Castr to a YouTube destination. The reviewed trial documentation does not publish a YouTube-specific maximum session duration. Confirm destination access and duration with Castr before relying on a trial for a long broadcast.

Scheduled prerecorded content through TV Playout
TV Playout schedules media into a continuous channel, which is distinct from forwarding a live camera or encoder feed. Castr’s TV Playout guide, dated July 13, 2026, says Trial, Starter, and Standard do not support Loop mode (Castr Help Center). That restriction applies to repeating scheduled content through TV Playout; it is not evidence that a direct live stream to YouTube has the same limit.
How to test a YouTube workflow before relying on it
- Check the exact workflow. Decide whether you are sending a live camera or encoder feed, or scheduling prerecorded files through TV Playout. The limitations and controls are not interchangeable.
- Confirm trial access with Castr. The trial article does not provide a complete current trial destination count. Ask whether your trial account can use YouTube as the intended destination and whether the planned session duration is supported.
- Run a private test for the planned duration. Castr recommends testing with an Unlisted or Private YouTube stream and running the test for as long as the planned event (Castr Help Center). This is operational advice, not evidence that the trial promises a session of that length.
- Check what viewers receive. Confirm the stream appears correctly in YouTube, audio and video stay in sync, and your broadcast remains available for the intended audience. A successful short test does not establish that a longer session is permitted.
- For TV Playout, verify looping separately. Trial accounts lack Loop mode in that workflow. Do not treat a direct live-input test as proof that scheduled files can repeat continuously.
When upgrading changes the calculation
Castr’s pricing page lists paid Starter allocations separately from trial allowances. On the current page accessed October 3, 2026, Starter lists 200 GB/month of player bandwidth, six destinations, and two concurrent streams with monthly billing; annual billing displays 2.4 TB upfront and three concurrent streams (Castr pricing). These are paid-plan figures, not trial entitlements; check the page for current terms before subscribing.

Castr’s March 18, 2026 help article says Starter and Standard streams are automatically disabled when allocated bandwidth is exhausted. Premium and higher plans have overage protection; after rollover bandwidth is exhausted, the article describes a charge of $0.10 per GB, billed per 1 TB (Castr Help Center). This is paid-tier policy, not a statement of how trial overages are handled.
